Chapter 7:
James's disapproval of Sophia and Ryder's relationship only grows stronger with each passing day. He tries to keep them apart, forbidding Sophia from seeing Ryder and threatening to fire him if he doesn't stay away.
But Sophia and Ryder are determined to make their relationship work. They continue to see each other in secret, always looking over their shoulders to make sure they're not being caught.
One day, James follows Sophia and discovers her and Ryder together in a hidden café. He storms in, his face red with anger, and demands that Ryder leave his daughter alone.

"Father, please," Sophia says, her voice soft. "Just listen to me. Ryder makes me happy. He's the one I want to be with."
James's expression softens slightly, and for a moment, Sophia thinks she sees a glimmer of hope. But then his face hardens again, and he turns away.
"I'll never accept this relationship," he says. "You're going to have to choose between me and Ryder, Sophia. And if you choose him, you'll be choosing against your family."
Sophia feels a pang of sadness at her father's words. She knows that she's going to have to make a difficult choice, one that will change her life forever.
Will Sophia choose her family or her love for Ryder? The decision is hers
