CHAPTER 8

NIGHT OF FIRE OR NEGEL ON FIRE

The second night in the Wood’s mansion, the servants prepared the food, fuels, furniture for the campfire, everything is carefully arranged after all they are the most difficult and rare guests everything must be perfect. 4 servants were left to cook rest left, this is also a leisure for servants to rest early.

The clock ticked, night arrived, the group gathered, flame rose ,food cooked. Lucus didn’t want to join the group but Merlin will not allow that, they had planned to kill him here after the campfire so she somehow forced him to go there. The gathered the party started, music, dance, chatting soon the silent night became livelier, the only person who is out of these is Lucus he sat in an corner silently watching everything. Liam is another side watching him in anger, the person standing between his victory . He is waiting for his time, they had planned everything tonight they must kill Lucus if successful then he will own everything.

Soon the bored gang started the to play true or dare, Negel a second generation rich though not so wealthy but enough to live off for generations without worries currently a producer with few hits, spins the bottle to start the game. He is Liam’s friend or that what he claims to be but to Liam he is a person who can be manipulated at will like a puppet, he know many of Liam’s secrets because he did many of the deeds. Tonight the showmaster is this puppet, the stage is set play is ready.

The main play is in forest but he will doubt the main character will enter the stage so the game started, the bottle rotated the game started aimed to target Lucus but he is new to schemes it’s just he never cared about their petty tricks, the game continued still midnight whenever they try something he just tackle them. As the game went on, the bottle stopped at Lucus Negel challenge him to stay in the forest for few minutes as Lucus entered the forest he followed . By midnight friends grew tired of everything the party ended, they returned to the mansion.

Meanwhile on the side of the forest,

Lucus who went inside lost his interest in the game starts to walk around like he usually did though not at night like this, everyone scare to be in forest at midnight but Lucus find peace in it maybe because it calms his mind which like a chariot pulled by eight horses in different direction. He walked aimlessly unaware of the person following behind. Negel was following Lucus trying to find the best place to kill him. While walking maintaining a safe distance, Negel who never roamed here don’t know that this place is not a one way path believes Lucus to be same as not knowing this person walks this daily knows every direction to go. As they both walked Negel slipped steadied by holding on the tree looked up only to see the person walking missing. As he walked a bit forward he saw a figure which appears like Lucus so he followed it. Then at a point the figure disappeared he was shocked by what he saw, he went to the spot saw himself alone in the forest. On the other hand Lucus went to mansion somehow stood in the balcony of the study, Liam who was waiting eagerly for an hour or so to hear from Negel saw a figure of Lucus through the shades went towards the side to get a better view, as he came front he confirmed it was Lucas so he left as well after venting his frustration, he can guess that their plan is failed so he thought Negel went to hide from him.

But Negel who deep into the forest standing alone felt a sudden chill, he can’t fool himself he is also scared to be here alone as he starts to walk he heard a sound. He wondered on a very silent even a few seconds ago where he could hear his own heart beat now a song is echoed, he want to see the singer who is humming but when he heard the song clearly he was too scared , it was his obsession once, the song with deep meaning which he never got nor forgot.

It was silent night like this I know you

I got a bundle of joy in my hands

It was not a worldly obsession It was

far more better than any of these

I got a new world in my hands but

I got a new fear and responsibility still

I like the new experience. It was

far more better than any of these

I planned a future for us which

I don’t know if will come true yet

I want the dream to come true

far better future for us…

All the wordly obsession must come to end

of else the fire of desire will burn everything

For better if the possession end

As the song end fear rose to peak, sweating profusely even at the cold night, he saw the shadow which took the form as the face becoming clear the fear grew in him, he became paler as he saw the face clearly. The figure said “ Let us play you usual game Mr. Negel, your favourite fire play” a chill rose at the peak of fear as he heard the cold voice echoing in his mind. He use a simple trick with fire to impress new girl, it’s a simple trick he flick his fingers a small fire formed in finger. Now a woman uses his trick she flicks her finger but the fire was not on her finger. It was Negel who was burning in the fire. He screamed but none heard his noise which echoed in the forest he burned to chars but the dry leaves below his feet is unaffected, as the fire completed it’s mission went off without leaving trace, as the shadow disappeared.

Negel who used to bully the weak and used by the strong, he knows this truth yet he did everything they commanded. His only obsession was she yet he couldn’t get her. She is willing to be a widow than ne his. Though he can’t give her status she would be a queen. Even in her deathbed he wanted her bot he never got her. This became a strong hatred towards him, he had many things to insult him even killed him. But now no one is here to witness his death nor could give judgement for him nor anyone to burry him.

People forget that the crimes at night also have eyes watching. Not all the crimes get immediate punishment some crimes has delayed punishment but judgement will be more severe for every crimes.
