Chapter 23 Allison opened up a beer and microwaved a Lean Cuisine while her thoughts were far away. Her decision to take a sick day wasn’t without cause, given the level of stress she’d been operating under. She curled up with Snowball, her 12-year-old tabby, and ate her simple dinner on a TV tray. Cats were ideal pets. They didn’t have to be walked, and they seemed to have an innate sense of when you needed a friend. Allison’s tension melted away as the comforts of home embraced her.
