Chapter 36
Allison got out late because her patient was unstable and the complex shift report took longer than usual. She felt a sense of accomplishment just by keeping her patient alive through the night. By the time she walked to the parking garage, it was after eight. Paula was long gone.
Once she was in her car and on the highway, she called Paula’s cell phone. “Hi, it’s me. I’m just getting out.”
“I figured you’d be late. I’m already home. What’s up?”
“You got me curious earlier when you mentioned talking to Dr. Chandra. What happened?”
“Oh that. Yes, you’ll find this quite interesting. I think we should include it on our list of failures, cover-ups, and unsafe practices.”
“I’m listening,” Allison said with renewed curiosity.
