We were sitting in the diner at the start of town, cozied up next to one another in a booth. We’d spent more time kissing and cuddling than eating. I needed to let Adam know that I was an eater and would not be distracted from my food. We’d said very little about the meeting with his parents since leaving the house. It felt like we were avoiding the inevitable, but I just wanted to park all things werewolf for a while. It was my day off and all I wanted to do was enjoy it with him. “Tell me what high school was like for you.” Adam said, pulling me close to him. “What?” “Yeah. Tell me about this Michael-guy. About who you hung out with. Why I barely saw you around.” I let out what came out like a snort. “What’s that about?” he laughed. “You know why you never saw me around.”
