😯 Chapter Six 😯

*This Meal Is The Surprise ! *

Leng Ruyan made sure everyone was seated at the table before clapping her hands. Immediately she clapped her hands, the maids started bringing the dishes one after the other.

"But Aunt, can we really eat right now, the guests are waiting in the hall?" Gu Xue Lan interrupted with a hint of false concern.

"So, my precious A'yin should starve because of some banquet? The banquet hasn't even started yet, and the time stated on the invitation is 11 p.m., it's just 7 p.m., I wonder what they are doing here now?" Leng Ruyan said before shooting Gu Xue Lan a death stare.

"I mean, isn't it obvious that some persons wanted to deliberately embarrass my dear sister." Gu Yanjue shot while pouring water for his dad.

"Gu Yanjue'er, don't spoil the atmosphere, A'yin I specially prepared this meal for you, myself, here, have a taste." Leng Ruyan said with an enthusiastic expression.

"Don't tell me that this meal is the surprise!" Gu Qian half yelled.

"Just shut it, what gift did you prepare for her? A'yin come on, tell mom, how does it taste." Leng Ruyan said with an enthusiastic expression.

Gu Nanyin was surprised and at the same time overjoyed by this surprise, so this was what Gu Xue Lan didn't want her to taste. She picked up the chopsticks and put a piece of rice into her mouth.

Immediately the rice came into contact with her tongue, her eyes began to widen involuntarily until they became as wide as a watermelon.

"A'yin how's it? How does it taste? Do you like it?"

"Like, I don't like it...."

Leng Ruyan's face fell immediately she said that but it was not for long as Gu Nanyin soon continued, "I totally love it, it's so delicious, yummy, soft and has a slightly spicy taste, this is better that those high end restaurants, this is my new favourite dish, God, it's so yummy."

Hearing the first part of the sentence, Gu Xue Lan was very pleased and unknowingly a mocking smile lit her face, "Gu Nanyin is still a fool and a roadside bumpkin." But the smile did not last long because of the second part of the sentence.

Hearing the second part of the sentence, Leng Ruyan's face lit up and started smiling like one who had won a lottery, "A'yin, if that is so, then, mom will make it for you whenever you want, okay?"

Gu Nanyin smiled at Leng Ruyan and nodded.

"Come on, eat more, you're too skinny." Madam Gu said.

"Yeah true, why is she sooo skinny? Anyways Mom, I haven't eaten anything yet, you just keep stuffing food into this little brat's plate." Gu Yanjue complained.

"Language, Gu Yanjue, how dare you call your little sister a brat?" Gu Qian said with a straight face.

"Oh, so she's more important than me?"

"Who told you that you were important?"

"Yanjue'er would you just shut it and let my precious daughter eat?" Leng Ruyan touched his shoulder and said.

'Ma, Pa, it's okay, don't ignore Yan'ge because of me." Gu Nanyin said with a pout. Seeing her this way made the hearts of their parents itch.

"It's okay, A'yin, you're his little sister, he should understand, Gu Yanjue, you are a freaking adult, so act like one, I mean look at how sensible your sister is." Leng Ruyan said while sneering at Gu Yanjue.

"Okay, that is it, I've finally realized that I'm adopted, she's the only one you gave birth to, right? Mom." Gu Yanjue asked with complaints.

"Why are you sich a big baby? Please keep quiet, I'm trying to eat." Gu Nanyin scolded her older brother with a frown.

"Are you talking to me, you skinny little brat?" Gu Yanjue hadn't even finished his statement when he received a knock on his head.

"Shut it and let's all eat in peace." Leng Ruyan shot at him.

Gu Nanyin had finished her bowl of rice and was craving meat when as if on cue, Gu Yanjue, Gu Qian and Leng Ruyan, each put a piece of meat in her bowl, she bowed her head to show her thanks as her mouth was full. Then she started eagerly devouring the meat.

Gu Xue Lan eyes lit up immediately she saw this. It was a perfect opportunity to embarrass Gu Nanyin. So with fake concern, she asked;

"Sister, why are you eating that way, or have you never eaten meat before in your life? Sister can you please stop eating that way, you're embarrassing yourself."

"Sister is it that you want to drive me away from this table?" Gu Nanyin asked with a smile.

"Ahh, sister, no, I just wanted to know, why are you making it seem like I'm mocking you?" Gu Xue Lan asked with tears in her eyes.

Seeing that Gu Xue Lan was about to cry, Gu Yanjue aggressively hit his hands on the table forgetting that his parents were at the dinning table with him, "Please shut up and let my sister eat, if you can't eat without annoying her better still get out of this table."

"Yan'ge I'm sorry that you are angry because of me, take some of the meat in my plate to calm your temper." Gu Nanyin said while putting some of the meat from her bowl to the bowl of Gu Yanjue.

Gu Yanjue sneered at her but still accepted the meat.

Gu Nanyin was happily eating her meal and did not notice Gu Xue Lan sending death glares to her. Gu Nanyin was finally done with eating and put down her chopsticks.

"Ahh, I'm so full, right now, I need to sleep."

"Here, have a cup of milk, then Gu Xue Lan will send you to your room." Gu Yanjue said while patting her back.

Hearing his words, Gu Xue Lan's face lit up while Gu Nanyin was just keeping her head down and nodding. She raised up her head and didn't miss the scheming in Gu Xue Lan's eyes.

Gu Nanyin pretended to not see the scheming in Gu Xue Lan's eyes and offered to do the dishes, which her parents strongly opposed to. But she was able to convince them and she used her eyes to tell Gu Yanjue to come with her.

"Mom, dad, I want to help A'yin out in doing the dishes." Gu Yanjue said and joined Gu Nanyin in packing up the dishes which they then took into the kitchen.

When they got to the kitchen, they quickly dropped the dishes and Gu Nanyin started doing them.

"You did not call me here to just do the dishes right?" Gu Yanjue said after looking around to make sure no else was there.

"Yeah, what other reason would I ask you to come here?" She asked while beckoning on a corner with her head.

Gu Yanjue immediately understood and joined her in washing the dishes.

"I'm surprised that you still know how to do the dishes, Yan'ge." Gu Nanyin said with a smile. She was truly surprised, because when they were young, her brother had learnt to do the dishes and a little other house chores because of her. After all, there were some times when their parents were not home and the nanny had not yet arrived, so he had to learn all these things for her.

Hearing her words, Gu Yanjue lips curved in a barely noticable arc. "I remember you did not know how to do this eit....."

He hadn't even finished talking when one of the clay ceramic plates slipped from her hand.

"Ahhhhhhhhh." Gu Nanyin screamed in horror.

Seeing this, Gu Yanjue sent her a look of "you're so useless at your age".

Tears welled up in the eyes of Gu Nanyin.

"Please, don't cry, I beg of you, okay, forget about doing the dishes, what are you doing? Drop that down! I'll pack it up for you, just sit on the counter." Gu Yanjue said panicking when he saw the tears in her eyes and saw her about to pick the broken plates with her bare hands.

The eavesdropping Gu Xue Lan who stood behind a pillar close to the kitchen, angrily left when she noticed that the Gu siblings were busy showing off their love. Although she was pleased when the plates slipped from Gu Nanyin's hands, she was not pleased when it did not get her injured.

Gu Nanyin heard the footsteps retreating and then finally beckoned on Gu Yanjue. Gu Yanjue seeing the sign his sister was sending him, immediately moved close to her.

"What's the matter?" He asked with a curious expression.

"Ge'ge please later when sister Xue Lan is supposedly to take me to my room, I want you to bring our parents along without her finding out that you guys are behind us." Gu Nanyin said with a smile that was not a smile.

"Reason why I should do so?" Gu Yanjue asked while sneering.

"You can even see from the way she looks at me that she wants to destroy me, you know that too right, brother?" Gu Nanyin replied.

"True, I discovered her true character this morning, but be honest with me, she did not send you this clothing right?" Gu Yanjue asked with a bit of anger on his face.

"You have a notebook in your room, right?" Gu Nanyin said and paused while Gu Yanjue nodded, then she continued, "You'll lend me and I'll show you how she wanted me to dress."

"Is that all?" Gu Yanjue asked with a slight furrow in his brows. He hd just finished doing dishes and had made a cup of warm milk for his sister.

"Yes, Big Brother." Gu Nanyin accepted the cup of warm milk from her older brother and saw that he was done with the plates.

"Are you done with the washing Yan'ge?"

"Isn't that obvious?"

"Okay then, let's go to your room together."

They left the kitchen and went into Gu Yanjue's room. When they got there, Gu Nanyin smiled with tears in her eyes.

She had come into her brother's room. This was the last place she came to before she was plotted against by Gu Xue Lan. Luckily that event had not happened yet, so she could stop it from happening. It was never too late for revenge.
