Bad Luck Hit Hard

1205 Words
First sign of bad luck. Because it was a long holiday, the boss went to Bangkok, and many of the household workers had the chance to go out and have fun. She was no exception. Today, she and Noom planned to go into the city to buy some necessities and stroll around. Their favorite was the night market. The two girls enjoyed themselves so much that their stomachs started to churn, so they looked for a restaurant not far from the market. “Let's eat shabu-shabu, my treat,” Ann suggested. "Wow, rich!" “Not really, but I still get a salary, you know.” “Oh, right. You are known as the boss's girl after all, so your salary is higher than mine.” Anchaya gave a sad smile when Noom mentioned the boss because since the incident at the archway entrance of the Orange Building, she hadn't seen Chinaphop again. She lived modestly and cautiously, practically confined herself to the guesthouse. She'd only stretch her legs by walking around the house, avoiding the main building or the Orange Building, fearing any incidents that might upset him. If anything happened again, the boss might just kick her out. “At first, I felt a bit awkward. He gave me a salary even though I wasn't doing my job. But Uncle Phon said to save it for college,” since she would graduate from high school in just a month. The two of them enjoyed their shabu-shabu meal, followed by dessert until they were full. They were about to call a taxi home when Ann noticed a beautiful, slender woman with a crop top barely containing her ample chest and short shorts barely covering anything. “Isn't that the boss's wife?” She recognized the woman who had passionately kissed the boss by the pool, especially those ample breasts. “Yeah, that's Prim, the boss's favorite. And who's that handsome guy she's walking arm in arm with?” “They're about to get into a car together.” “Snap a photo,” Noom ordered Anchaya, who was holding her phone and quickly snapped a photo. Just then, a taxi arrived to drop someone off, and they quickly hailed it, telling the driver to follow the white sedan. “Noom, are we seriously going to follow them?” “Of course, we need to tell the boss about this affair.” “They might just be friends or siblings.” “What kind of friends hug like that while getting into a car?” The taxi followed until the white sedan drove into a hotel area. “Should we go inside?” the taxi driver asked. “Just pull up in front,” Noom said, paid the fare, and followed them into the hotel, just in time to see the boss's favorite mistress arm in arm with the guy entering the elevator. She wanted to follow to see more clearly, but Anchaya held her back. “You can't go up there.” “I just want to be sure.” "I got a picture of them going into the elevator together. That's enough. Let's head back," Anchaya said, looking uneasy as it was getting quite late, and staying out too late wouldn't be good. "Okay, let's go back." When they got back home, Noom immediately called Phon and sent him the picture Anchaya had taken via text. Phon hadn't gone to Bangkok with the boss; he stayed at the farm to oversee things during the long holiday. "I'll handle telling the boss. You two don't need to get involved anymore. If the boss finds out you followed her to the hotel, you'll get in trouble, especially you, Anchaya. You've already got several strikes against you." "But we're just trying to help the boss," Noom argued. "Yeah, yeah, I know you mean well, but whether the boss will see it that way is another story. More importantly, you two got home almost at ten o'clock." "We were late because we followed that woman, Phon." "You were just having too much fun. No excuses. Tomorrow, stay put," Phon ordered before hanging up immediately. "Wow, Phon is as tough as the boss," Noom complained. "If the boss finds out, he won't be mad at us, right?" Anchaya worried, fearing she might be kicked out if he was displeased again. "I doubt it, since we're helping the boss not get cheated on by Prim." The next day, Phon came to see both of them with a message from the boss, who was still resting in Bangkok. "You two don't go anywhere during this holiday." "Oh, is the boss mad again?" "The boss is unhappy that you two followed Prim to the hotel." "No good deed goes unpunished. We just wanted the boss to know Prim was cheating on him," Noom pouted. "The boss already had his suspicions and had someone collecting evidence. The reason the boss is unhappy with you following them to the hotel is that the guy Prim was with isn't just anyone. If he spotted you, you two could have been in danger." "So, the boss is mad because he's worried?" Noom asked, turning to smile at Anchaya, who smiled back. "Worried, my foot. The boss is just scared you'll screw things up. If Prim gets wind of it, the boss's plan will be ruined." "Oh," Noom sighed in frustration, while Anchaya looked dejected. This showed the boss already knew Prim was cheating, yet just the other day, they saw him hugging and kissing her. They hadn't thought the boss was planning to catch Prim in the act. "I'm off. You two stay put in the house. You're too much trouble," Phon said, leaving the two girls feeling even more disheartened. Noom and Anchaya could only grumble about the whole situation. "I guess our luck isn't much different. By the way, what's your zodiac sign, Anchaya?" "I'm a Pisces." "No wonder." "Noom, are you a Pisces too?" "Yeah... I guess that means you and I shouldn't go out for a while. I think we should chant and meditate, maybe it'll help our luck." "How about we head to the prayer room? They've got tons of chanting books there." "Sure." The two girls went into the prayer room, focusing on chanting until Aunt Mai returned from the main building and saw them. "Heavens, Noom is actually chanting. Thanks a ton, Ann, for getting her into the prayer room." "Noom was the one who invited me," Anchaya said. "Oh, really? Wow, it's great that you thought of this yourself." Aunt Mai patted her niece's head affectionately. "Auntie, do you have any holy water to sprinkle on me and Ann? Lately, my luck's been pretty bad," Noom said. "I do, I've collected it from several temples. I'll sprinkle some on you." Besides chanting and meditating, they also got holy water from several temples sprinkled on their heads. Noom and Anchaya were confident that their luck would definitely improve from now on. As for Prim's issue, a week later, Noom came to tell that she had been kicked out of the Orange Building. Now, the master's mistresses are down to just six. Including her, that makes seven... doesn't it? ............
