Selena had took some of the man's blood and stored it away for the trip. She drank the remaining blood in his body until he fell unconscious, then she burnt his body.
It was quite a painless and merciful death she had given him despite the fact that he had tried to kill her first. She entered the building of her workplace. It was a medical firm that specialised in mental illnesses. She was a psychologist. She could read the personalities of people on first encounter. One of the reasons why she had chosen the profession.
She had cancelled all appointments and quit her job too. She didn't know how long she was going to stay in the underworld so she decided to quit. That way, no suspicions would arise if she never returned to work after the given amount of time. She never really needed to work anyway. Her parents had left her enough money to last a couple of lifetimes but she did it to distract herself from her troubles.
The shy receptionist gave her a demure smile as she passed by. She returned the smile and slipped through the elevator doors before they closed. Inside, were a few of her colleagues that she never talked to other than the usual greeting or discussing patient files. She wasn't a very social person and the only deep conversations she had were with her clients.
Surprisingly, no one asked why she was limping. Probably they didn't care or they were to scared to ask her that. Her office was on the tenth floor, far at the end of the hallway. She did what she had came to do and packed all her stuff into two boxes. One of the guards on the floor helped her carry her stuff, which mostly consisted of novels and books, down to her car.
After packing them nicely into the trunk of the car, she turned to get into the driver's seat when she suddenly felt a tingling sensation trickling down her spine. She swiveled around rather to fast and felt a sharp pain in her injured knee. She ignored the pain and looked around at the dozens of people that hurried about on the streets.
It was that same sensation she felt. Like someone was secretly watching her. She knew human men would always look at her, sometimes even ogle but this feeling was different. She didn't feel threatened like she had the previous day but she felt something else she couldn't pin point. Somehow, she felt she really needed to know who this person was.
She lifted her face slightly towards the sun and sniffed the air. Lost amidst the pungent smell of trees, flowers and exhaust gases, was manly vampire scent. She knew it was a male vampire and he smelt like a cool refreshing mixture of musk and peppermint. She scanned the faces passing by her and sniffed a lot sweet this time.
Whoever was watching her was within a twenty metre radius. She began following her nose and limping into the crowds of humans. The scent became stronger as she neared an alley. The alley was empty but the manly scent lingered behind. Surrounded by the overwhelming scent, she unconsciously closed her eyes and drew in another deep breath. She was surprised by how calming the scent down. Calming her raging heartbeat to a steady rhythm.
Slightly disappointed that she didn't find the mysterious man, she turned back and walked to her car. She thanked the valet who had watched over her car and slipped into her charcoal grey Rolls-Royce Phantom and drove away.

Vladimir De Luca watched her stand in the dark alley. Her petite frame looked amazing despite her limping. If she hadn't killed that man, he would have killed the man himself. He watched her breathe in his scent and he did the same. She smelt of summer berries, sweet and alluring.
She seemed disappointed that she hadn't seen him but he couldn't risk it. He wanted to be close to her but if she ever found out the truth, she'd never wat to see him again. With a slight pain in his heart, he watched the love of his life drive away.
