Chloe’s p.o.v. The night was thick with the scent of damp earth and rain-soaked stone. The wind howled through the trees like a warning, but I refused to listen. Dylan and I stood just beyond the castle grounds, hidden in the shadows of the forest, staring at the single point of entry that might get us inside undetected. ‘The old servants’ passage.’ I barely remembered it, but as a child, I had once overheard the kitchen maids whisper about a tunnel beneath the castle, an abandoned pathway servants used centuries ago to sneak supplies and secrets in and out of the castle.
