The wind howled through the darkened woods as I rode through the night, my fingers curled tightly around the beast’s coarse fur as the creature beneath me moved with deadly grace, its monstrous frame casting an eerie shadow across the forest floor.
Every village I passed fell into silence, the window slammed shut, and doors locked in a fast move.
Despite that, not everyone cowered as among the fear-stricken faces, some watched me with awe and recognition. As if they knew, deep in their bones, that I was no longer the woman they once condemned, I was way more and untouchable.
After riding for a while, my body ached, so did every bone in my body. It was heavy from the power I had unleashed to break free, but I didn’t stop until I was far beyond their reach.
