Dismissed From The Castle

The castle had never felt so empty. Even at its quietest, there had always been movement—servants bustling through corridors, nobles whispering behind their jeweled hands, the distant sound of clinking goblets from unseen halls. But now, silence had settled like a death shroud as fear had seeped into the walls, and the kingdom that I once looked to for guidance now turned away, their backs stiff with apprehension. With my Sight gone, I had become nothing but a symbol of doom and I could hear the whispers, the frightened murmurs of those who still lingered in the castle as they spoke of ancient disasters, of a time when a seer lost their vision and the kingdom crumbled soon after. They feared history repeating itself, feared that not even the engagement could save us from what was coming.
