Three years, three whole years Edlyn waited for this very moment. She knew it was wrong of her to think of her husband's death every passing moment, but what could she do? Who would blame her though? It's not as if she was ready for this life changing event as soon as she turned 21. Who would have thought her first one night stand would be leech and suck her of her freedom and bachelorhood. One night, One cursed night all it took for her world to turn upside down. As soon as she heard that her one night stand handsome man was at her home, the first thought she had was to call the police and get him arrested for stalking. But the lady luck has some special kind of grudges against her. The Man, The stalker, the one night stand was none other than Ivan Miller. The man who is the owner of the Midaspire corporation, which is the leading luxurious brand but that is beside the point. Ivan Millers is the most ruthless man to ever exist. Whoever got in the way of his business mysteriously got their dirty laundry exposed, went bankrupt or Died accidental deaths. When Edlyn realized who the man was, she was sweating profoundly. She gave him many reasons to take back his proposal but it all went on deaf ears. When nothing worked on him she went to her parents and told them she would not get married to him. At first her Father was hesitant but at the threat of leaving the house and never coming back made them back away. When she finally thought that things were getting better her father had a heart attack and his business started to go downhill, at that moment Ivan came along to help them, which she reluctantly accepted because she was not THAT expert in business. But truth to be told she was hesitant to take over the family business. She was not ready to give up her freedom. She knew it was selfish of her not to think about her father’s hard earned business and just about herself but she knew her father has many capable people, people who were much more capable and experienced then she could ever be at that moment. That hesitation took her freedom in a way she wasn't expecting and before she knew it News of her and Ivan getting married within Three months were all over the news and social media. Shock that went through her body, made her stumble and fall down on the floor with a thud. What the hell? This cannot be happening. You can imagine the shock she felt when she opened her phone one morning to constant ringing from her friends and all over her social media, and to see her face on every headline ever existed. She called Ivan What the hell was going on and that damned man chuckled and replied: “Sweetheart, that’s not the way to talk to your Fiance,” and after persistent asking he replied that Her parents had accepted the proposal on her behalf and the wedding date and venue is all set. All she had to do was just show up. She cursed him on his face saying he was just a lying ahole and hung up on him. After that she went to her parents who were all avoiding her eyes with a guilty expression on their faces. Her mother calmly tired to talk to her saying all kind of things like “But darling, he is rich and handsome. All of the women in our country are dying to be you at this moment.” “SO why not marry someone who actually wants to marry him? And why? Why did you accept his proposal?” At which her parents just looked down without saying anything. At that moment it hit her. It hit her like a shotgun shot in the dark, His father’s business, Ivan’s oh so kind help, Him not accepting any gratitude from her. That scheming asshole. “You sold your daughter for the business, huh. Never thought I would see a day when my own parents would sell me. You, I never expected this kind of thing from you. You should have stayed with me, should have supported me, out of obligation, out of guilt or anything. You were supposed to be my Parents, You have ruined my life, I hate you, I hate you both so much ”She yelled at them, as she ran out of the house. Leaving her parents calling and crying for her. She tried to run away in those three months but she forgot who Ivan was. He has eyes and Ears everywhere. Apart from his own tails the media was onto her. Her each and every step was posted online. “Sweetheart, there’s no point in running away, you know that very well now.” He had called one day. “It would be in your best interest if you accept my proposal and become my wife Happily, unless you want to be bud of the joke in society. You know everyone in this country is keeping an eye out on this wedding.” “Why? Why the hell does it have to be me? What have I ever done to you?” she had asked, screaming her face was covered in tears. “You can just say that you were in the wrong place at the wrong time.” He had replied, “Look sweetheart, I am not expecting anything from you. You will have the life you've been dreaming about. Money, power, status. You can have all the things you want. All I ask of you is Fidelity. Be MY good wife and I will give you all kinds of luxuries you want. “WHY? GOD DAMNIT WHY ME?” “Call it fate or whatever you want.” with that he hung up. It was the worst kind of dream. She cursed the drink which made her think Ivan was a handsome man. It was supposed to be the best kind of night she was supposed to have, it was supposed to be fun turning 21 but those drinks that night made it to be the worst crime she had ever committed. Who would have thought that one night would have blown to this extent. He didn't give her a choice to say no to him. In these past three months Edlyn refused to go home, she refused to use a single penny her parents transferred into her account, she refused any kind of help Ivan tried. Instead those three months gave her the lessons of her life. She couldn’t pick up any odd jobs because her face was plastered all over the country, people would recognize her wherever she went. So she took online jobs, As she was an IT major, a Hacking expert, She picked up online jobs that pay well and stored it all in a different account. In the blink of an eye, three months pass and the dreadful day arrived, The wedding was luscious was an understatement. The wedding was in a French chateau. It was one of the most expensive venues in the world and Ivan had booked that place for three days. The combination of dusty blue and dull gold was like a breath of fresh air. The flowers and centrepieces were specially imported from the well known designers. The dress that Edlyn was supposed to wear was the ONLY ONE in the entire world made by a world famous wedding designer. The more she looked around the whole preparation the more bitter she felt. Ivan had said in an Interview that it was love at first sight, and He could not wait anymore to gave the Love of his life his name that was why the sudden Wedding. So, the more Edlyn avoided the camera the more ruthless the comments became that she was being a spoilt brat, some people pointed out that she didn’t look happy in any of the pictures so she was under constant microscope of the people she had no idea about. She remembered what Ivan had told her “Darling it would be in your best interest if you happily became my wife, that is if you don't want to be bud of a joke” As she grabbed her father’s hand without so much as glance at him she walked down the aisle, “isn’t it strange,” she thought to herself with a big smile plastered on her face “how you could live your dream and your worst nightmare at the same time.” Her father gave her hand to Ivan who smiled at her so lovingly that she really thought the man was in love with her. They exchanged their vows and at that moment, Edlyn Ames became Edlyn Millers for the rest of her life. The funny thing is everyone places so much energy on the best dress, the best venue and the best of everything as it is the biggest day of your life even though it isn’t. For Edlyn That day was the day when she pledged her Life to become someone’s wife. It was just the beginning for her to fulfil the pledge for the rest of her life, whether she is happy about it or not. For three months she had thought it was a nightmare, a nightmare that her parents sold her for a business, a nightmare that she was forced into a marriage that she wasn’t ready, a nightmare that Everyone thinks she’s a spoilt brat who isn’t happy with the expensive things his Fiance is buying for her and wanting more. But the thing she learned in those three months that unlike a nightmare, she could not wake up from that dreadful dream. She was still fighting against the awful truth, searching her mind for a logical explanation, not wanting to give in. And the most horrible realization of all was that she had known, somewhere deep inside, ever since the very night she first set eyes on Ivan Millers. She decided to ignore that nightmare and chose to stand still, until she could rise again.
