CHAPTER 3 – AN INTERESTING BEGINNING FOR AN EVENING –––––––– * * * * “MAY I TAKE YOUR COAT, detective?” she asked, turning back to him when they reached the hallway closet. “Why so formal?” he asked her while taking his coat off. “If I remember correctly, you were using my name the last time we met,” he continued in a scolding voice, and handed the coat to her. “Yes, I remember,” she replied quietly, while she put his coat carefully on a hanger and closed the closet. She turned back to him. “And I also recall you didn’t want to give me your first name,” she mentioned and tilted her head as if she had challenged him. The playful lights in her eyes told McNamara she was just teasing him. It was nothing else but pleasant banter, not a reproach for his inflexibility at the time. Yet,
