"What's wrong, Nika?" I hesitated to sit behind Harry. Although I was actually reluctant to talk to him, my curiosity got the better of me.
The woman approached hesitantly, " Sapphire... you ... don't have to go," she said haltingly.
I frowned.
Who is she to speak like that? As if she's the lady of the house who has the right to decide who can leave and who can stay. When in fact, she is nobody and perhaps will never be anybody.
"What do you mean, Nika?" I asked calmly. I challenged her gaze. However, she looked down. Her hands clasped and squeezed each other. Her throat visibly moved up and down swallowing saliva.
