Running Wild

It’s been a week since I started training and even though everyone still isn’t very warm to me they have accepted me as a strong opponent and necessary ally. Alpha Apollo is satisfied with how training is being conducted so he’ll be heading home later today. I fear things might change when he leaves though. “Today will be my last day here as I am needed back at my pack” it’s then I realized I never asked what pack he was from. Alpha Apollo continues “I hope you continue your training as well as you have while I was here” he says meeting every eye. I think they know what he actually means.

Once training is over I go to ask him the question that’s been burning in my mind all day. “Alpha Apollo” He turns to me and smiles “yes Astra?” I shift on my feet abit with my tail slightly swaying behind my and my ears back wondering if it’d be weird to ask now after all this time. Apollo noticed my suddenly shyness “is something that matter?” He says c*****g his head at me with a concerned look “well..um I” I start off when a smirk appears on his face “Aww are you trying to say you’re gonna miss me?” I look up at him shocked “what?! No!” He pats me on the head “there, there. If you have fallen for me then you must know that I’m saving myself for my one true mate” he states dramatically while fluttering his eyes. I roll mine at him realizing I no longer feel awkward. “No that’s definitely not it” I say bluntly. He fakes being shot in the heart but I just continue “I just wanted to ask what pack you’re from. I realized i never asked nor did anyone say” he laughs at my innocence “that’s all you wanted to ask? You should have just said!” He clears his throat “ i am Alpha Apollo of Bloodriver pack” he says with a smile. My jaw drops at this “you’re the new Alpha?! Is that why you were here in the first place? Are you going around making ally’s?” I didn’t realize that I was now bouncing with my tail wagging. He just laughs at me again “yes that is all correct” I stop bouncing now and c**k my head at him confused “if you’re the new Alpha then where is your Beta?” “He is taking over my duty’s back home since we knew it’d be safe for me to come here alone” I nod understandingly “that makes sense” my curiosity has been satisfied for now “are you and your family going to come to the ball this weekend?” Apollo smiles at me probably hoping I say yes. We have become good friends during his visit. “we are and I’m bringing my best friend and her mate” “Taylor right?” I’m surprised at first he remembered her name but it is an Alphas job to be attentive “yup! I don’t think I’d be able to do it without her” I laugh nervously “whys that?” He asked so innocently, like he hasn’t seen how everyone treats me “I’m not exactly a people person” I say motioning to myself. I can see as the realization hits and a sad comes upon his face. He doesn’t say anything after and just nods. We say our goodbyes when I noticed the time and run home to get ready for school.

I arrive at school halfway into lunch and quickly grab some food before I go to look for my friends. I scan the room and find them at a table near the back and start to head that way when i end up tripping on someone’s leg. Thankfully I catch myself and don’t spill my tray everywhere. I look to see who it was and meet eyes with one of Vanessa’s friends snickering with her group “oops! Sorry” she say while motioning at her leg “long legs” I just glare at her and walk away since I don’t want to waste my precious time to eat. When I look back at my friends I notice they were watching. “What a jerk! I should go over and break her “long legs”” Taylor mocks “Taylor it’s fine. Don’t even waste your thoughts on people like that” she gives me a sad look but goes back to eating “so how was training? Did ya whoop some tail??” Josh asks while nudging my arm “it went pretty good but I’m a little worried how it’s gonna be from now on” I sigh and rest my cheek on my hand “what do you mean?” Asks Davon “well Alpha Apollo is going back to his pack later today so he won’t be here to help during training” my ears droop down as I fiddle with my food “what if they go back to treating me how they did before?” I look at everyone and they all have sad and sympathetic looks on their faces “ hey it’s gonna be alright” Josh put his hand on my shoulder “we’ll be here no matter what. Right guys” everyone agrees with him and we switch the subject to homework. Apparently there was a test in one of my morning classes that I missed so I’m gonna have to take it later. Great.

School is over and I have a lot of homework to catch up on so I head home. After a few hours I am finished. I stretch out my sore muscles and glance at the clock to see its 6:30pm “can we go out for a run?? Pleeeaaassee” Eve begs in my mind “a run would be nice after sitting at my desk for so long” Eve is practically jumping in my head, ready to run wild.

I head outside and strip down behind a tree and shift. We run freely through the forest, chasing a few small animals when I start to feel like we’re being watched. Before I can scan the perimeter a smell catches my nose. A rogue! I howl out to warn the pack and go after it. I see them right as they turn to take off but I’m slowly catching up. When two more pop up on either side of me making me wonder if this was a setup. The one in front turns around quickly and charges at me and so do the ones at my sides. I jump up over the one in front so they all collide into each other but they’re quick to get on their feet again. I run towards the border and howl again so that the patrolling wolfs will find me. As I’m running that way I see six wolfs coming towards us who are from the pack. The rogues also notice this and turn to run away but now that I have backup I won’t let them escape. We chase after them and eventually capture them to take into questioning to see if they’re a part of what’s been going on lately.

We arrive at the pack house and Alpha Bane is waiting outside with my father. Dad runs up to me “are you alright?! Alpha Bane told me everything” I smile at him “don’t worry dad, I had the whole thing under control” Alpha Bane scoffed “oh really? If you had everything under control then why didn’t you bring them in yourself? This is why women shouldn’t be in these kinds of situations if you’re just gonna need help” I calm myself before speaking “well first of all it was 3 against one and I wasn’t even sure if there was more. Also I don’t possess the proper tools to bring them in with. I didn’t want one to escape and cause damage to the pack so I had them follow me to the border where I knew the patrol who has those things could help take care of things safely when I could have easily killed them all but then we wouldn’t be able to question them” my dad smiled proudly and winked at me “I see” was all the Alpha said as he turned away to go question them. “Not even a thank you!? How rude!” Eve huffed. My dad patted me on the back then went inside. I headed back home for I was very exhausted at this point and just wanted to go to bed.

I arrive home at 9pm and go straight to the shower to wash off the forest. I slip into my pjs and crawl into bed letting sleep take over.

“I’m in the forest again. I know it but yet it’s different. I’m in the middle of a clearing and it almost seems peaceful yet I can feel A pair of eyes on me. Watching my every move, putting me on high alert “I know you’re there. Come out!” I shout as I look around. I hear a deep laughter “looks like you’re not afraid anymore” I see the shadow of a man in the distance “who are you and what do you want from me?!” I growl, getting in a defensive stance “calm down child. I just want to talk” I scoff “that’s not what it looked like before” he waves his hand in a nonchalant way “I was just trying to get your attention dear” “there’s much better ways then using fear” I sneer “true but I needed you to be willing to talk, Fear was the easiest and quickest way. My apologies” he slightly bows “what was so urgent that you made me see that?” “That was the future of your pack if you don’t listen to me” he stated “and it won’t be because of me but I know who is the cause” “what do you mean?!”

Before he can answer I’m forced awake.

“Honey! You’re gonna be late for training!” I wake to my dad shaken me awake. My eyes feel so heavy and I’m very groggy “dad? What time is it?” “Time for you to get up and dressed if you’re gonna make it. No time for a shower if you want breakfast” I glace at the clock and see its 5:30am Oh no! I jump up and quickly get ready. Grabbing a premade breakfast shake and running out the door. I barely make it in time but luckily no one noticed.

The day went by smoothly and I was glad but I kept thinking about that dream. When I went to have lunch with the g**g Taylor was the first to notice that my mind was elsewhere. “Hey, you good?” She asks with her head c****d to the side making everyone look at me. “Yea I just had another weird dream” she looks at me with big eyes “really!? What was it this time? Did you get any clues??” The others now being totally confused looking between us “clues? What do you mean?” Davon asks his mate “yea why would you need clues about a dream?” Jack looks between me and Taylor hoping for an answer. I look to Taylor to see if she thinks we should trust them. She gives me a slight nod “it’s up to you” I take a deep breath hoping I don’t lose my brand new friends and spill everything quietly so others can’t over hear. Even the new dream. All eyes go wide with this info “have you told any of this to Alpha Bane?” Asks Jack “he doesn’t really like me so I doubt he’ll listen. Besides I have no proof really. I can’t say anything just yet or he’ll just call me crazy” they all nod and I can see the gears turning in their heads “maybe you can make a suggestion to prepare Incase they have witches? Try to make it Alpha Banes idea?” Black says “he probably won’t unless he feels a need. Witches don’t really help other kinds so he’ll deem it unnecessary ” Davon interjects “Maybe we could give him a reason” Taylor says with a smirk.
