For the rest of the school day all eyes were on me and whenever I walked into a room it would instantly fill with whispers. Now you think I would be used to this but for once it’s not about my looks or anything really but everyone wondering why our next Alpha would bother talking to an outcast like me. Every girl glared while every guy was looking at me in a new light. “Is it just me or did every other guy wink at us?” I think to Eve “maybe they finally see how much of a sexy beast we are” she jokes. Even though they all stare, none has bother to talk to me except one. “We need to talk” I hear a females voice from behind and I turn to see the girl who tried to correct me earlier “Bree right?” I say awkwardly “Brianna to you” I just nod. “why is it that as soon as Aiden comes back he’s being friendly with you ?” She spat with jealousy dripping off her. I shrug “I mean we train together ? But other then that your guess is as good as mine” I say not really caring for this conversation which seems to upset her even more as a growl escapes from her “well either way just know this. He’s mine so don’t even think about making a move” I can’t help but laugh at this “ first off hun. I don’t even like the guy so don’t get your undies in a twist. Second off...” I start with a growl and use my Alpha side “ don’t think that you can just walk all over because I choose to be quiet. Don’t ever threaten me again or it will be the last thing you do” she stared at me like a frighten doe as her face turned white. She turned and ran away not bothering to say anything else knowing she lost.

Once I get home I’m absolutely exhausted from the crazy day. “I swear Aiden must be talking to me to cause trouble or something. I used to not mind him cause he was the only one to not treat me like a monster in that family besides his mom” I say out loud to no one really “well maybe now he wants to get to know you since he sees how awesome we are after kicking his butt” Eve says triumphantly which makes me giggle remembering it “possibly but I doubt it” Eve purrs “Or... he could be our mate??” She practically sings “oh goddess I hope not!” I grown. “why? He’s cute and an Alpha. Perfect match for someone like us. Plus did I mention he’s really cute? Cause he is” I roll my eyes “yea and his dad absolutely hates me and his sister would probably slit my throat in my sleep if I stayed there” Eve gives up and leaves me with my thoughts. I really, truly hope he is not my mate or I might just have to reject him and leave the pack. Which I mean I was already planning on leaving after I turned 18 since no one really wants me here besides my family and few friends. I can always come back and visit.

After laying on my bed for awhile and letting my thoughts run while I decide I should eat something and maybe go for a run to my favorites spot but then I get a text from Taylor.

“Taylor: are you ready for Saturday!?

Astra: as ready as I’ll ever be

Taylor: remember that I’m staying the night tomorrow to help you get ready and make sure you don’t run away c;

Astra: yea yea “

As I text her I head into the kitchen to get something to eat when Even come through the door.

“Oh hey Astra! Guess what” he has the biggest grin on his face so I can only assume one thing “hmmm... you have a date to the ball??” “Yup!! She’s the prettiest girl at school too! Her name is Emily” and then he goes on to tell me all about her and how he asked her and I can’t help but smile as he excitedly goes into detail about everything. I wonder if all guys get like this when they like someone. I make us both a pasta dinner and we talk for awhile about school and stuff. I tell him about the friends I made and how training is going. We haven’t talked like this in awhile cause usually by the time he gets home I’m passed out. “So why are you home early?” He’s putting his dishes in the sink when I ask “everyone is prepping last minute for the ball and stuff so I just came home” he shrugged “wanna go for a run with me then?” I ask as I bring my plate to him so he can wash them “nah I think I’m gonna study abit then go to bed. Don’t want there to be any reason why I can’t go tomorrow” he smirks at me. “I bet” I wiggle my eyebrows at him which makes him swat me and then we both bust out laughing at each other.

I make my way out to the woods and strip down but before I shift I put my clothes in a bag to take with me just in case something happens again like the last 2 times I decided to go for a run since I’ve been back. Eve is super excited to go to our favorite spot and so am I. I shift and let her free to roam and chase whatever. When we reach the lake Eve stops to drink before jumping in head first “I’ve missed being able to swim whenever we wanted to back at Papa and Gree’s” Eve sighs. We float for abit and reminisce. I should call them when we get back.

For once my run was pretty uneventful and it was nice. I get back to the house and it’s pretty late. I go up and shower then slip into my pjs and hop into bed ready to let sleep take me away.

“I’m in the forest clearing again so I know what this means now. I search the tree line and then my eyes land on him. He is slightly closer then last time but still not close enough to tell who he is “it’s been awhile since you decided to invade my dreams” I sarcastically state. He shrugs his shoulders “believe it or not but I’m a busy guy” I nod my head not sure if he’s telling the truth since I don’t even know who he is.

“So shall we continue where we left off? Like telling me who is the cause of that m******e that’s going to happen??” the man placed his hands behind his back and started to pace side to side as he spoke “i can’t tell you just yet but I can assure you that witches are involved. You need to make sure you’re prepared.” “But aren’t you in my dream right now because you’re using witchcraft? Why should I even trust you? Also how am I supposed to prove that witches are involved with the on coming war?” Astra threw her arms up “do I just tell them that a man came to me in my dreams and told me?! Do you know how crazy I would sound!!” Astra yells at the man in a exasperated voice “I could try to do something to help them believe you but... it could be dangerous” the man thought aloud while rubbing his chin “I’ll come back in a few days with a plan to help. Will you trust me for now?” Astra hesitate. Not sure what to answer “how can I trust a man whose name I don’t even know?” Astra raises a brow. The man thinks for a moment before speaking again “you can call me Morpheus”

My alarm awakens me from my strange dream meeting. I don’t have much time to process it as I realize I am late for training! I quickly freshen up and grab an apple on my way out the door. Hoping no one will notice. Once I get there I see a certain someone looking for me. Aiden. Once he spots me he motions for me to come to him. I lower my head and ears and shamefully scurry to him “Good morning Alpha Aiden.” I say without making eye contact “Good morning Astra. It’s good that you decided to join us today” he smirks “I realize I’m late and I apologize” I state still staring at the ground. He pats my back “it’s fine Astra. It was only by 10min. Now please look at me” I slowly raise my head and see an amused look on his face. “Go run around the field 5 times then come back for morning muster” “yes sir” i sprint off not wanting him to change his mind and make it worst. My Papa’s punishments were way worse then this if I was late do it was like a jog in the park.

Training went by smoothly but right when I was getting ready to head home and change I hear Aiden call my name “do you want a ride to school?” “Thanks but no thanks. I gotta run home first anyways” he nods back and takes off in his grey Jeep. I hurry home and quickly shower. I haven’t done laundry in awhile so a lot of my favorite clothes are dirty. I gotta quit being so lazy. All I have left are some skirts and dresses my mom and Taylor has gotten me in a attempt to have me dress more like a girl. I groan trying to figure out what to do and land on a gray T-shirt dress paired with a jean jacket and converse. I put my hair in a high pony and decide to put in some effort since I’ve done this much and wear some silver hoops and do some basic makeup. I look over myself in the mirror and am surprised how nice I look. Eve purrs in approval. I get in my car and head to school. When I walk in everyone’s head turns in my direction. I try to ignore them like always but I can sense something is different. After I get my plate I head to my friends who haven’t noticed me yet as it looks like they are in their own world. As I walk past the “popular” table one is Aidens friends look me up and down while whistling. “Wow. You clean up nice Astra. How come you don’t dress like this more often? I might actually fall for you” he winked as he said the last part. Before I can respond a loud growl comes from the other side of the room. It’s Aiden. I’m not sure if he just got here or went to the bathroom but either way he started heading our way. His friend who was just trying to hit on me spoke up “Dude what’s got you so pissed!?” Aiden looks at him like he’s an i***t “you dumbass! Don’t flirt with her again” he then grabs my wrist and drags me out of the cafeteria. I look back at my friends for help as I have no idea what to do but I can tell they are just as shocked as everyone else. What am I gonna do!?
