Chapter 7

I put back the pocket watch inside my bag since it is something that really concerned me.

Whatever I am thinking right now, was quickly disregarded and I am a science person and I also believe that everything has an explanation for it.

I don’t believe in any superstition, and beside we are officially starting our tour and I quickly ran towards them to catch because I don’t want to be left behind here alone.

I just can’t stop smiling right now.

As we walk through this hallway that my imagination is filling with countless creatures that I might encounter later, let’s say that this is more like of a simulation for myself. Practicing what I shall act later. Just to be prepared and to avoid any public humiliation later.

Not long, we reached the door which led us to the outside, just like what I saw yesterday, nothing has changed here as much except for the people who are walking on the sidewalks right now.

They really are advance than the rest of the world. It’s not something that will help everyone on the outside on their everyday life but more of providing them protection from any infection.

Since the so-called terra formers are a microscopic creature, I really can’t help it but to think that maybe the breach is highly possible since human does not know that they are in front of them.

Based on the news earlier, there are newfound infected which caused the red alert. Then I must assume that they are not completely isolated by the researchers and the outfits that we are wearing right now which is pretty secure to be breached by any kind of bacteria furtherly confirms this theory of mine.

But not all time we wear this.

So how come they still can’t infect humans?

Maybe there is some exceptions?

And if my theory that human kind is really an exception to be infected by the terra formers, then there is no point anymore for the world government, to isolate this country from the whole world.

I mean, come on! We are taking away infinite possibilities. There is this movie that I watched, an apocalypse at first but hundreds of years later, it was shown that the planet is thriving as well as the human kind.

What triggered the apocalypse is fear.

That’s the moral lesson.

I mean it’s a beautiful movie since you feel like that you are inside the movie but my point is that what destroys ourselves is us. Because we fear the unknown. As shown in the movie after hundreds of years the human kind has learned to live with the apocalyptic monsters and slowly, they are rebuilding the world.

Turns out that those monsters also want to live in peace but fear came first to the protagonists, and they started attacking them which led to an all-out war.

If they continue to be like this, then they are not just taking away some good opportunities for the planet.

A white cab stopped in front of us, and on the back, there is a protected see-through glass. So, we can see later as we progresses on this tour. I really want to see them.

I can say that this is not just glass something of some sort maybe.

But I did not ask Dr. Sarah and I just happily went inside with my sister.

“What is this for?” I heard Jose, or John asking Dr. Sarah.

That’s what I like about him, so I listened closely to their conversation hoping that it will also answer my questions.

“Transportation to the tourist site,” the doctor answered the vlogger.

“Yes, with due respect we know that this is for presentation. Can’t you see it’s not usual that we can see vehicle like this outside of the country,” he said. “Let me rephrase that question, what is the glass for?” he asked and I wanted to laugh at him.

“To protect you from the bacteria,” she answered again and this time I really can’t hold my laughter but I did not burst out in laughter, just a little chuckle to satisfy the itch inside me.

He grunted and his camera is turned off right now, he probably doesn’t want for the public to see this.

It’s too funny to not be included, maybe he is that type of a guy that does not want to be picked on by others. He just quietly went inside the cab with us.

“What did she say?” I asked him.

He looked at me blankly.

“Don’t even ask me,” he said.

“If you say so,” I told him and the cab’s engine started and we started our way towards the tourist area that she is telling about.

I peek at the window and observed the buildings.

Unlike in other cities, this city is not so filled with people and I am wondering where they went but I answered that question not long after so what’s the point of asking right?

It is because they are busy researching.

It is like a movie that came to life.

The lights, perfectly fits the aesthetic of this place just like what you really expect and it really does not let you down. Not long after we reached the destination...

Maybe?

Because the cab stopped completely in an area, I don’t know if this area is a parking lot of some sort, because there is no traffic here.

We remained still for a moment looking at each other, I don’t know what to do. Well, the most of us don’t.

As I thought that this is really our destination, the cab started to move again but slowly...

And it stops again.

Now, I am confused on what’s happening here right now.

But immediately I felt the tremor so suddenly which spooked the all of us, and a loud metal sound can be heard.

“Don’t be frightened kids,” we heard the doctor said in the front. “There is nothing wrong, this is the right way to the tourist spot,” she said.

I see now, we are going underground as I noticed that the cab is being lowered slowly.

I looked around and when I saw that there is a circle that is being pulled underground, some sort of elevator I see. This is very cool.

Now I really wonder why the tourist spot is held underground and not the surface.

I badly want to ask, but I need to be patient, maybe later I will get my answers.

I am so excited right now.

A loud bang was heard when we reached the ground floor of this place and as soon as we reached this place, the roars on unknown creatures can be heard here. Which scared some of us especially my sister who is completely not prepared in this tour.

But she was being held by her knight and shining armor.

He is there to protect my sister, maybe I’ll trust him with that since they love each other. So, there really nothing to worry about, the photo c***k was just nothing.

I was worried for nothing, phew. I mean that’s good.

 “Get down now kids, we are here,” now she is starting to sound like that kindergarten teacher who is leading an educational field trip for the kids.

Without any questions we got out from the Cab and now we are gathering here while the doctor is facing us. What now? I think there is something to be heard from her.

“Are you ready?” she asked again.

That’s it?

Hmm... she really likes to intensify every situation.

Then someone handed us a face shield...

No, it looks like a bowl aquarium, like we are about to dive into the vast ocean.

“Wear that, and that is to protect you all from the infection that the bacteria pose to all of you,” she said. We all wear the bowl aquarium to our head, and I almost fell because of surprise when suddenly a user interface pops out in front of me.

It says, welcome.

Also, texts that contain information about this place. It scans the place, so it’s really not just some sort of fish bowl.

“That is cromium,” she said. “A phone inside a glass, that’s what others call it but it is a piece of technology specifically designed for the citizens of this place to protect them from getting infected by the bacteria, also it has microscopic features, and it is programmed to specifically detect the terra formers that is possibly around you,” she added.

I see, and it’s cool! More than, I looked around but it only scanned the place, it’s a bit heavy and since I am new with this feeling, I assume to myself that is very hard to breathe.

I know that it is just me overreacting but what can I do to my mind?

Since there are no threat detected, then I assume that this place is completely sterilized.

“From now on, you will wear that when you are outside your room, to protect you from any infections,” she said. “As you learned from earlier that this place is not completely sterilized, so we must ensure your safety,” she added.

“How come that you and the others don’t wear this?” someone asked behind me, and it sounded like Cheryl’s boyfriend.

“Good question little boy,” she said and she really like to treat others like children.

I looked back at him and saw him shamed because he asked and I saw my sister consoling the poor guy.

“We have this plasma like barrier around us that disintegrates anything that touches us,” she said and she looked at the guards besides us. “Throw something to me,” she told the guard and as expected from his reactions, the guard is genuinely confused by her request. “Just throw something,” she added.

The guard panicked and picked some on the ground and he quickly threw it at the doctor. To my surprise that something caused a spark and I saw it burned down to ashes.

I can’t believe it.

“But I hugged you yesterday,” Alexander here behind me said.

“Good point,” she said. “It has a neuro link where I can turn it on and off in command, with my mind, like telling it to turn off when I am about to touch something and turning it on again, when I am done,” she explained. “And it requires a long time of training before getting one of this,” she added.

“But it has still flaw, when you turn it off, you are still vulnerable,” Jose, John? I don’t know but the vlogger asked. From now on I will call him vlogger.  

“The built in scanner makes up for it, once it alerts me that there is a terra former around me I can just simply turn it one real quick,” she answered. Woah. That’s cool.
