The man called Seer shook himself out of a nap and turned his head toward the sound of boots on flagstones. “Seer,” came the old man’s voice. “They’re here for you.” “I know, Dunner,” he said. “I’m ready. I’ll see you and Veista in a little while.” He chuckled. Of course, he wouldn’t see them, but it was funny how he could never shake those little turns of phrase. Seer felt the guards lift his chair, and then the cool air as they carried him out of his warm hearth-side spot and down long hallways. A heavy door clanged open and he felt a gust of frigid wind. They were not outdoors long, though, for the men soon carried him into the tunnel that led to the chamber where Bloodless used Seer’s power. Before long Seer’s chair was set on the floor.
