Getting Ready

So, the week went by in a fast blur, its finally Friday the day Shelia has been looking for forward to the party tonight. I wont lie I’m excited myself. I rush through the house and throw my bag on the counter; mom is in the kitchen cooking. It has just been the two of us, since I can remember my mom is great, but she often has that sad, lost look in her eyes. She doesn’t talk much about the past. So, I don’t know much of my father, other than he was an outstanding man and had to go away for a while. it has been 18 years and I have yet to meet him, I mean how great could he be to leave the love of his life with a child to raise on her own? Don’t get me wrong we are not poor, and I have never gone without, my mom doesn’t struggle, come to think of it I’m not even sure how we live such a good life on a simple secretary’s salary. I don’t ask many questions to my mom. Because I can see the pained expression on her face when I have asked questions about my father in the past. So, I have left it alone for the time being. Her friends have tried to get her to date or go out to meet guys, but she has never had any interest. she always says that her job is to be the best mom she can be, and men are not important.

Hey mom, how was your day? Why are you home so early? I took a half day so I could come home and cook for you, I will have to go back into the company and will most likely work a late night fixing the books. Oh, Okay Mom, Shelia is coming over and we were going to go out for the celebration tonight. Okay dear, have fun and be safe! Not long after supper was made, Rizzo’s mom headed out to the company. Shelia came in and they rushed up stairs to get ready for the night to come. Rizzo put her black dress and boots on and fixed her hair. Rizzo left her hair down and curled the hair to frame her face. Rizzo let me do your makeup tonight! Come on Shelia I’m just going to put a little eye shadow and powder on! NO girl, you must go all out in that dress. Okay, let’s do this! Shelia pulled out everything, when she was done, she turned me around into the mirror and oh my! Rizzo you are going to blow everyone away! My eyes were painted up in a bright beautiful blue eye shadow with a little smoky grey/black in the corners. Black eye liner with wings and black mascara, my lips were lined with a deep brown lip liner and balm. We headed down stairs and it was already dark out. We jumped in the jeep and headed to the rodeo grounds!
