Location: Flower garden, West wing, Princess quarters, Royal palace, Riveria.
"I would also have shown you this... " she said as she held out her hand as a grayish blue light emerged from her hands, engulfing the garden. The rose garden suddenly disappeared and a beautiful flower garden appeared. It appeared that the place was the flower garden from the start but a spell of deceit had been cast to make it look like a rose garden. It held all types of flower present in all of Mitv. There are about a hundred flower plants there standing in all their glory. It was a beautiful sight to behold. The flowers were in different colors and shapes and their beautiful colors merged to form an outstanding view. It brightened up the formerly dimly lit room.
Lucia has a habit of bringing her flowers on every date they went and every time they met. And so far, for five years, the flowers had turned innumerable. She turned each of those flowers into a flowering plant and planted them in a garden built solely by her magic, a little far away from her room. Each of those flowers runs on her life's energy and magic. The garden was very wide, covering a very large space of land.
Lucia was. "You kept all those flowers?"
"Yes!”
"You turned it into a flower garden with your magic?"
"What are you getting at?"
"Do they run on your life's energy? This... There are about ninety different types of flowers. And you did this for me?"
"Yeah, I did it for you, but guess what, you aren't deserving of any of these." She suddenly stretched out her hand and cast a spell that turned the place back into a rose garden. And with her tears coming down like a torrential downpour, she ran out of the room, away from him, away from his betrayal with a last "WE'RE OVER".
She sighed as she recollected the past. She couldn't bring herself to destroy this garden after that incident no matter how much she wanted it. That man, Lucia, never saw him again. He was the reason she became what she has become- a cold and emotionless princess. No matter how much she had grown to detest him, she couldn't do the same with the garden. It carried all of her special memories. It still became the only place she found peace and solitude. She couldn't let it go no matter what and it gradually became her favorite place in the world.
It was already almost a year since it happened but the pain still hunts her like it was all just yesterday and the memory, still as fresh as if it all just happened. Because of him, she hated every other guy that exists since she thinks they are all the same. Though she had always blamed that bastard for ruining her life, she knew she is also to be blamed for whatever happened.
Whether he was a cheater or not, it cannot be denied that he was a young and agile youth who dated a beautiful princess for five years. If that wasn't enough for him to fall for her, then the problem is majorly from her.
After she broke up with him that day, she ran to her room and cried all day. After three days, she found herself waiting for him to come back to her saying that he didn't mean anything he said that it was just a bad dream and they would have lived happily ever after. She waited for months and locked herself away from everyone for two months just crying and waiting for him to come back for her.
At the end of the second month, Her grandmother had enough of her childishness and dragged her out. When she insisted she wanted to be alone, her grandmother forced her into meditation and seclusion for four months with a spell master to train and get used to spells. Alas! Her grandma's method worked. She got over it and stopped waiting for him. Her concentration was on something else. Her master was also a great tutor so, Her power increased immensely within the last six months. All that was left now was her coronation...
Her coronation was in two days and anxiousness was beginning to set in. It will be the second time she would be showing herself to the world and she didn't know what to expect.
She felt both anxious and nervous. So, she went to her grandmother.
"Grandma, I'm worried. What if it doesn't go right? What if I'm recognized?" her worries were not baseless because she could indeed be recognized.
Because of their vast difference in power and how rare they are, it is easy to differentiate between dark and white magicians. The dark magicians have an overpowering presence and are always surrounded by dark energy. Some can feel the energy while some can see it, either way, they are easily detected, but having practiced for this day all her life, she was well prepared. She had been taught different energy-covering spells and temperament-reducing spells to get rid of any suspicions. She was ready, she knew it. She just couldn't help feeling nervous. She must not f**k up, she wouldn't. If not for herself, for her family, she must make the whole nation proud of her. Talking of family...
Her grandma, Bella brought out a picture. She caressed it with a smile on her face and turned it to face Kitana who instantly mirrored Bella's smile. Looking at the duo from afar, you would think of a happy family but on a closer watch, one would notice how thick the atmosphere is. Their smiles were stiff and had a hint of sadness in them with tears brimming in their eyes
With that same stiff smile and a croaky voice, Bella talked to her granddaughter "Whenever you feel down, afraid, nervous or anxious, remember this i***t's face as he nags and complains about how useless getting worried is and how important it is to live every minute like you own the place" she said pointing to the picture of a smiling man with broad shoulders, long brown hair, and brown eyes. He looked handsome and proud. "And if you feel you're not good enough, just remember her smiling face telling you how proud she is of you even if all you're doing is locking yourself up and crying all day. " She said pointing to the lady in the picture. The lady had gold waist-length hair and a bright green pupil. She is Kitana's mother and the brown-haired man standing next to her is her husband, Kitana's father. The two of them beamed brightly as if supporting Bella's words and telling their daughter to go for it. The damn finally broke in both their eyes as they cried their eyes out.
Kitana trembled as she cried. She still couldn't get over her parent's death. Hell, she could never get over it. "Mom, Dad, you've always been hasty in everything. You couldn't even wait, just two months Mom and Dad, that's all it would have taken to witness your daughter's coronation. Why! Why! Why must you be so cruel to leave me all alone? Why must you do this to me? All I wanted was your mental support that day and you couldn't even wait to give it to me. You didn't even wait to give me the chance to witness you take your last breath. I didn't even get to see your dead bodies before you were buried. Why must you be so cruel and heartless?" she wailed and wailed while Bella consoled which seriously had no effect since she was in a much worse situation herself.
"It's fine, sweetheart. Don't say you're alone again. You're not alone, I am with you and even they are with you, protecting you, looking over you, and making sure she makes the right decisions. Rex, can you see how broken you left your daughter? Can you see the state she is in? How can you even be so irresponsible?". Both of them ended up petting each other till the other was better and after finally calming down, they decided to practice using their powers.
It was just after another boring and stressful day with her overly dramatic and hardworking master. He had made sure to stretch her to her yield point during practice before releasing her to rest. They had practiced for three days continuously without rest till she couldn't take it anymore leaving her craving for her favorite chilled strawberry milkshake which was out of her reach for the next month since there is limited food you must eat during practice and all of those food tastes like s**t to her. She hadn't had something decent in two months. The only good thing about this practice is that it was taking place in her flower garden, if not, she would have sneaked out of the place
She would do anything that minute to get to her grandmother and tell her that she stopped thinking about Lucia and that she wouldn't lock herself up anymore but that chance never came. She wasn't allowed to leave until the four months is completed. She couldn't wait to leave. If she had always felt the palace was a confinement, then this is a prison. She was complaining about the downhill her life has suddenly gotten in the last year when she heard a knock at the door. It could be only one person since he's the only one allowed to meet her on this cold mountain. What caused her hesitation in opening the door was that the person knocked. Her master was overly dramatic so he doesn't knock. He just barges in like he owned the place.
She finally opened the door and was surprised "Mom, Dad?"
"No shit." her dad said in his usual sarcastic and unbothered tone while rolling his eyes and letting himself in. She started to wonder why she was surrounded by overly dramatic people. Her mum pulled her into a warm hug instead with a short laugh at her dramatic husband.
"How have you been sweetheart? I've missed you. We've all missed you. If your dad and I didn't believe you need this to get over your heartbreak and concentrate on the state's affairs which you are going to take over in two months, we would have begged Bella to let you go."
"So, you came to visit me then ?"
"Hmmn, yeah, something like that." She said with a smile as she was hugged by her daughter.
*cough*
" I think you mother and daughter duo forgot there is someone else in here. Kit darling, look what I brought for you" He brought out a drink from the plastic bag he brought with him. Lo and behold, it was her favorite drink, a strawberry milkshake. She squealed happily and snatched it from him, making herself comfortable with the heavenly taste on her buds but not without giving him a very warm and crushing hug causing him to let out a happy and excited laugh
"So, tell me, Dad, what are you guys bribing me for?"
"what? Can't I bring my daughter her favorite drink anymore without being accused of having an ulterior motive?" He asked with a small pout, looking like a kid who got his lollipop taken from him. Kitana let out a laugh at her dad's antics and kissed his cheeks
"Smooch!"
"Fine Dad, whatever keeps your ship afloat," she said amidst laughter which only made him glare harder at her.
Her mother busted into a fit of laughter at Kitana and her husband's conversation, Her eyes filled with admiration and happiness. Her laughter seemed to soften her husband's glare as he also couldn't help but smile back. There was positive energy all around them.
"See Rex, I told you it was such an obvious tactic." her mom said admitting laughter
"And I was right, you were bribing me" Rex's smile was instantly replaced by a glare directed at his wife
"Good job Mab. And thanks for outing me" he glared harder at her. Mab instantly entered defense mode as she raised her hands in the air with an extremely innocent look on her face
"I was just talking babe, I didn't mean to out you! ". At that, they all burst out in laughter. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, you were just talking," Rex said, dragging out the last part, making a coat expression in the air with his fingers before he suddenly turned serious
"So, seriously Kitana, we were going to tell you about our journey. We have to go for some important work far away from Riveria and it might take more than a month. Don't worry, we will make sure we don't take too long. It's important to go, okay?" Rex suddenly said in a serious voice causing the smile on Kitana's face to drop.
She had always hated the idea of her parents travelling especially when they had to go on long journeys. It always made her feel kind of lonely. Though, even when they didn't travel and we were home, they were mostly busy doing something or the other and didn't have time for her, which is why she cherished every single time spent with them just like right now. But that still doesn't mean she felt safe letting them go far away from her. At least, those times they were home, even though they were busy, they were still within her reach, she still knew where to get them when she needed them.
The fact that she didn't like them traveling doesn't mean they don't they did, very well. After lots of cajoling and promises, she usually just ended up giving in. It's just that, this time, she felt weird. It was a confusing and bad feeling, just that she didn't know what it was all about. But something was sure, Her premonitions were always right and this one wasn't good. So, she made up her mind, she wasn't going to let them go. She knew she would be overstepping boundaries if she insisted on telling them what to do but that couldn't be helped if she wants to save them. "I'm not letting you go!"
