Paul Odhiambo was the firstborn of the Odhiambo family. The Odhiambos had Paul in their late twenties but it did not deter them from their academic ambitions. Paul, like his father, was a beacon of academic excellence. He grew up an outstanding student, always ahead of the pack at all levels of his schooling. Like his father, he would enrol for a postgraduate degree in Economics at Harvard University.
