Episode Five

The second term started on a serious academic note Mr. Solomon the chemistry teacher asked Uzoma to wait behind after the lectures. After the class chemistry lessons Mr. Solomon only feels pity and worries for Joe’s state and was very matured at dealing with him as he made him participate in the cleaning of the laboratory.

The worries of the past times in Joe's s home really do weigh him down and makes him feel unease. Precious approached him when he was at the top there she expressed her sincere apologies for not coming to see him.

Although, Precious had stayed behind to help Miss Rosslyn Osisiogu plan the weekend campaign against child hawking. It was at this point they unleashed their webs of hidden desires. On their way home something happened that made Precious to hold Joe’s hand out of fear. The commotion got intense that the street has fallen into pandemomium. In the midst of the disarray, Precious saw a ten years old boy who stood in the middle of the street starring blankly he’s from the less privilege school children with learning disabilities.

While they watch the whole place turned into fog of smoke Precious still volunteered to go help the boy on the verge of at Joe got hurt as he tried to save her from falling into the gutter behind her. They took solace in an ice-cream bar who is a friend to Joe , Davidsmart called Joe ‘Joe the Great’ he almost spoilt this chances with Precious as he mentioned the names of Joe’s former girl friends.

After they had been welcomed by Davidsmart , Joe enquired about the boy they rescued and how did she comes to know him she told him few hints and eventually they dropped him with the instructor who appreciated them wholly. Joe and Precious walked home joyfully as they parted ways to their various homes. Joe slept well that night feeling good.

Joe has been absent from football practice John his friend questioned. However, invited her for the CK night party which Joe turned down bluntly. In the mid of their conversation Precious and Denis passed by as they exchange greetings. John was surprised at such friendliness between the two.

John and Joe later met at the football practice where the coach snapped at Joe for coming late to practice and later on in the game Joe has been behaving erratic which made the coach bully at him and one of the team mates also spat words at him, that enraptured into a brawl and he was sent out of the game.

On Saturday morning, the unexpected happened that tore Joe’s world apart he went to the hospital after the heavy rain pour he’s with mother as he has become a routine. Mrs Uzoma lost breathe in the hands of her son.

The news have spread in instants that Joe ’s family house is filled with relatives those like Uncle Joseph , Aunt Mary Cynthia and Aunt Angelica . Jessy also arrived from United Kingdom for the burial. Martin could not stay one minute but rather he walked in and out the home. Joe dreams of a miracle like mother will just stand up and say don’t mind them nothing of such happened.

Mrs Uzoma was buried in a private cemetery. Some of Joe’s school friends attended the funeral. Precious ran to him at the deserted part of the cemetery where she extended her condolences. They sat together to talk before Alice came for him that his father looks for him.

After the funeral Mr Uzoma announced to his sons that he’ll be travelling abroad for money deal and might stay for five months. He promised to save plenty of money for them. The boys saw father off to airport. They came back home as Martin brought out a wrap from them to smoke.

Martin turned the home into a club house that he organized party on daily basis to an extent that Mr. Ekwueme was worried for the new habits that has encumbered the Uzoma’s home. Mrs Ekwueme visited. Shortly to assure them to ask for anything if ever they were in need.

Wole craziness do not know bounds rather he had turned nuts that he takes heroine and even introduced his brother to it. But thank God for Joe ’s former lessons on hard drugs that made him know the negative effect of such hard drugs.

In school Joe has been out rightly out of point like he use to be - His Maths teacher complained about his low marks. Joe was confused and stunned about the whole things happening around him.

Denis and Precious cornered Joe to know how has been faring. They did not like how things have been with him lately, however, Denis noted that Joe needs help and they must proffer solution. Alice was approached by Denis and precious which in addition they discovered another thing about Joe s home concerning Martin .

On Friday night the trio Precious , Denis and Alice visited Joe . They advised him to turn over a new which he promised to do as Precious had pleaded.
