Chapter 5 The Party

1822 Words
Teagan wore a broad smile on her face as she stepped out of her Porsche. The bright sunlight hit her face and her smile broadened. Jason’s house was quite big and she knew that her Brother had done a lot of investments while they were just teenagers. In fact, Teagan herself had built her connections right from that time and only Jason, Zuri and Liam her two best friends knew about this. “Teagan!” she heard her name as she walked into the living room. She met a frenzy of what looked like a mini party. Teagan stood shocked at the scene unfolding in front of her and before she knew it she was almost knocked off balance by a pair of six arms. “Tee! You’re finally here. I mised you so much” Alyssa her step-sister said and she smiled. “Tee, don’t believe Alyssa, she spent her life partying everyday” Mason said placing a hand on Teagan’s shoulders. “Tee don’t listen to him. He’s just jealous”. Alyssa retorted stucking out her tongue. “Come here Teagan, we prepared a little feast to cerebrate our return with you” Zuri said happily. “It does looked to me like y’all were having quite a feast before I arrived. Didn’t care to wait for me?” Teagan said sitting on the couch. Jason sat at the far corner close to the wine cellar. He was unusually quiet. After two hours of chatting and and partying they all slumped on the floor tiredly. Jason shook his head in frustration. “Y’all sure made a lot of mess in my damn house” he complained and Zuri glared at him. “Are you complaining because I came to your house?” Zuri stood up pointing at him. “No no no. Not you Zuri. If you want, you can move into my house” he said with a wide grin and she scoffed. “Who wants to live in your house?” she scoffed. “I want to stay with you Jason, can I move in?” Alyssa asked. “No, go back home” Jason replied looking into his phone. “Only Teagan and Zuri can stay” he added and she pouted. “Irene will bully me to death” she complained. “Deal with it” “When did you become so mean?” “Will you stop complaining already? You’ve been away for three years, now be a good daughter and go home to take care of your parents”. Jason said with a smirk. “nasty older brother” she scoffed with a frown. “Tee, Dylan is holding a party for Nichole, did you know about it?” Zuri asked sitting up as her phone beeped. “Dylan told me about it. He wants me to attend the party with him” she responded and everyone in the room sat up. “Is Dylan out of his mind? Inviting you to the party he’s throwing for his mistress?” Zuri yelled angrily. “That j*rk sure has nerves. I’m going to that party to beat the hell out of him”. Zuri said angrily. “I so happened to have an invitation to the party. Will you come with me?” Jason asked with a smile. “Dylan invited you to a party that will humiliate my good friend Teagan and you’re going?” Zuri flared up again. “Weren’t you suggesting to go beat Dylan up for Teagan? How do we achieve that without an invitation?” Jason retorted. “Whatever” she scoffed then sat back down. “Y’all have fun. I have to return home, to make arrangements for work” Teagan said looking up. “Zuri you just arrived today and I don’t think arrangements were made from your company for accommodation, why don’t you stay here with Jason? I know my brother is a good guy and a good host. He knows how to cook and believe me, you’ll not starve to death”. she added eyeing Zuri who was now blushing. “Come on Mason, Lysa? Would you ride with me? I’ll drop you off at home”. “Teagan take me to your house please?” “Lysa, Irene is our sister and you have to get use to her. You’re grown up already, if she bullies you, try to fight back. You’re not weak”. Teagan said holding her hand. “But you can come over to my house for the weekend. Now lets go” she added dragging her out. “Come on Mason” they hurried out leaving behind only Jason and Zuri. Teagan dropped them off at the Ford Mansion before driving back to Dylan’s mansion. Upon her arrival, she met Dylan lying weakly on the sofa, Jake stood by the his side wearing a worried expression on his face. She paused by the door as no one noticed her arrival and tried to find meaning to the dense environment before her. She quickly glanced around and found a man in white Coat… A Doctor? Her heart skipped a beat as she squinted her eyes to look at the man in a white coat. Everett Chain, Dylan’s bestfriend. Didn’t she just meet Dylan earlier? He looked perfectly fine. Why was he lying weakly on the sofa and there was a Doctor tending to him? She began to panic as a lump formed in her throat. Cara, the housekeeper hurried out of the kitchen with a steaming bowl of porridge. “Dylan, please eat something, you can’t go on like this”. she pleaded and he looked away. “Mr. Chase, your stomach issues are acting up because you hadn’t eaten anything for days. You have to eat something or, the issues will only get worse” Everett chided and he remained silent. “I don’t like the porridge, it doesn’t taste like Teagan’s own” He complained and the look in Teagan’s eyes softened. “Dylan, I really think you should eat something. What if you faint again?” Jake said with worry. “Earlier at the clothing company, you had fainted outside, I was really afraid…” he started and Dylan glared at him. “I really think you should eat something. You can’t faint again. What will I tell Mrs. Chase returns, how do I face her? The Madam personally told me to take good care of you”. Cara coaxed. “Didn’t you go out earlier to bring her home? I’m sure she’ll be back soon. Do you think she’ll like to see you like this?” she added again and he frowned. “Cara, you know how much I cherish Teagan, I don’t think she’ll come back. She wants to divorce me. How can I live without her?” Teagan was taken aback at what she heard, she looked at the man on the sofa and wondered if that was really Dylan, her husband. “I watched you grow up, and I know how much you love Teagan. Your affection for her weighs back to 8 years ago, before the accident. But you’ve been pushing her away for that long. Do you think she’ll still want to stay?” Cara said holding his hand. “I know I’ve been foolish. But she hates me. She out-rightly rejected the engagement at first, so I figured out that she really hated me. Can you blame me?” he complained. “You’re acting like a child, lying on this sofa and whining, which woman will want you? You should man up and confess your feelings to your wife, and call off that stupid party you’re throwing for Nichole. You can’t even stand her, why are you throwing her the Party?” Dr. Everett chided with annoyance. “I owe my life to her, it’s the least I can do for her. It’s not as if I like to do it, or I want to do it”. Dylan defended dejectedly. Teagan stood by the door, contemplating whether to go in or to go out. Then as if sensing her presence, Jake looked over to the door and found her. Her phone suddenly rang before Jake could say anything and she took it to her ears, pushing the door fully open and stepping into the Living room. “I’ll send someone to pick you up tomorrow, sort it out by then, I don’t want to hear any excuses” she said coldly into the phone then quickly swept a quick glance at the room before walking straight into the kitchen. “Alright, I think I should go from here. Teagan will handle the rest” Everett said picking up his medical kit. “Stay for dinner…” Cara started and he raised his hands up to silence her. “Teagan really doesn’t like me, I don’t want to upset her” he added before walking out. “I have to pick up some important documents in the office. I’ll run along now” Jake said hurrying out as well. “I’ll just take this porridge back to the kitchen to reheat” Cara said picking up the bowl again. She left the living room and Dylan watched her retreating back. He wanted so bad to get up and head to the kitchen to see Teagan, to hold her in his arms and beg her to stay with him, but he felt really weak and his eyes were closing. Soon, Dylan dozed off and was waken by the sweet smelling savour of Teagan’s delicious porridge. He squinted his eyes and furrowed his brows. “Teagan” he called weakly. “I’ve only been out for a few days, and you’re already like this, are you even a grown man?” she nagged and he grinned childishly. “what can I do without you? Absolutely nothing” he whined childishly. “That’s why I need you by my side at all times” he added with a smile. “sit up and eat before it gets cold. I have work to take care of”. she said with a sigh and got up. “My hands are so weak, I can’t even lift them” he complained. “so what do you want me to do? It’s none of my concern” Teagan said indifferently. “Feed me” he said with a charming smile and Teagan couldn’t bring herself to tell him no. She fed him the porridge and soon, he had finished four plates of it. Teagan helped him to the guest room since he never spent the night in the house before. She tugged him in before returning to her own room. She got into the bathroom to have her bath and lay on her bed to rest for the night.
