DIANA'S POV There's a knock on the door. I wipe away any trace of sorrow left on my face, walk to the door, and open it. Red-haired Daemon is leaning against the doorframe, his lips curved into a smug smile. He's holding Xiana, whose face is twisted into a scowl. When she sees me, her eyes brighten and she snatches her hand away from Daemon’s. “You need to learn some respect, young female!” Daemon shouts as Xiana is about to charge toward me. Xiana stops and throws him a dirty side-eye that nearly makes me laugh. “Don't you think it's your bedtime already, Beta Daemon?” she says disdainfully, and my eyes widen.
