DIANA'S POV The machine slowly loses its restraint on me, pulling away. Kael's surprised eyes are the first thing I meet. Shock numbs me. I just stare at him. At the boy I had seen in my trance—not just a trance, but a part of my past, and I had never realized it. “I guess I’ll leave,” Bernice clears her throat and quickly exits the lab.
