DIANA'S POV
The machine slowly loses its restraint on me, pulling away. Kael's surprised eyes are the first thing I meet.
Shock numbs me. I just stare at him. At the boy I had seen in my trance—not just a trance, but a part of my past, and I had never realized it.
“I guess I’ll leave,” Bernice clears her throat and quickly exits the lab.
They had been watching me. They’d seen everything that had happened in my head.
“How didn’t I remember... how didn’t I remember I’ve met you before?” I stutter, sitting up.
I remember looking for my jacket the next day. I was so paranoid when I couldn’t find it. I couldn’t find a jacket that... my own daughter has now, and I didn’t even realize it.
How the hell did I not remember until now?
