KAEL'S POV
Diana falls unconscious and I mutter a curse word under my breath.
I knew she wouldn't be happy being brought to a place like this. As much as I want to know and be sure of who exactly she is, I can't run any other test on her until she consents to it.
“Where's Bernice?” Carden asks.
“Outside, but there'll be no need for her anymore,” I say, running my fingers through Diana's hair that's resting on my chest.
I can feel her heart beating rapidly, her pulse racing. The single tear running down her cheek punches a hole straight through my chest.
I know how much Carden is a pain in the neck to almost everyone here, that’s exactly why I had asked him to get on her nerves. I wanted to see her reaction. Maybe if she'd use any powers that must be hiding inside her.
