"Diana, you can't be with Ben, because his father killed yours."
Diana furrowed her brows. What did that have to do with her relationship with Ben? That was between their fathers. Diana would not allow that small detail to affect the relationship between her and Ben. Did her mother seriously think that the future of her relationship would be tarnished because of what Ben's father did? She had no knowledge of that and that's exactly how she wanted it to be. Diana wanted to minimize the drama. Too much was already going on.
"Mom, that is not a valid enough reason for me to leave Ben. And even if I wanted to, which I don't, I can' t leave him. I refuse to. Not for anybody's satisfaction."
