Breaking Apart

I slowly open the door to Malcolm’s room and the scent of my chosen mate causes my skin to crawl, something isn’t right he doesn’t smell like normal. I look around the room, my mate sleeping peacefully on the bed, the windows letting the sunset shine as bright as it could against the white walls, and the smell of sterilization is strong, nothing seems out of place. Shaking the doubt from my head I pull a chair up to Malcolm's bedside to wait for him to wake up. When I touch him the sparks that are  usually there aren’t anything like the sparks of your true mate but they are still there as we are chosen mates. They used to bring me joy, satisfaction, and love but now I don’t know if they feel dulled somehow.

‘Lily his wolf he seems to be fading away just as I had’ Cleo interrupts my thoughts ‘But it seems like he is painfully fading as if someone is forcing away Malcolm's wolf. I can’t even communicate with him anymore. That smell is feral someone who was feral was here’ 

“Damien I need you can you come to Malcolm’s room” I attempt to use my mindlink after not using my abilities before. It is kind of weird but the sensation also gives me a rush of happiness. 

“On my way to Luna '' I rolled my eyes at him with that word. I don’t feel like a Luna , especially one that is responsible for telling my pack to let their wolf die. I'm nothing but a disgrace for Lunas all over. 

“What’s going on” Damien’s voice slapping me back into reality. 

“Smell Damien and concentrate” he looks at me funny before closing his eyes and smelling the room, his body at first is so relaxed when suddenly he goes rigid, his wolf surfacing causing Cleo to put at the power radiating off of him. “I got it. I’m going to track the smell to see where it leads. I'll let you know what I find” I nod my head trying not to let him see my disheveled state, the one my loving wolf put me in. I hear the door close and before I have time to do anything, even breathe, I am shaken to my core by a seizure of Malcolm. 

“DOCTOR!!” I scream trying to hold onto him, keeping him from falling from the bed and hurting himself. His body is burning up and I don’t know what to do.

“What happened?” Doctor O'Malley the pack doctor, says , rushing into the room. 

“I don’t know he just started seizing up and he’s running a massive fever.” My words come falling from my mouth as I am being pushed out of the way. My body is then shoved from the room as the door is shut in my face. I don’t know how to feel anymore seeing him in that state just now broke something in me and I don’t know how to make it stop breaking. Cleo has been howling non stop in my head, upset and confused just as I am. Deciding to go and check on everything else we leave letting the nurse know to contact me if there are any changes to his condition. 

“Mark is everything in order? Are all the warriors back and okay? Is it fully over for now? “ I asked one of the top warriors as I walked out of the hospital. He was standing guard for the time being, keeping the hosp[ital safe.

“Yes Luna everyone is okay and the attack is over for now, I’m not even sure why we were attacked to even begin with.” Concern fills his eyes as he looks to me for guidance, honestly I don’t know how to give it to him but I can try.

“Good stay guard and if you will please send someone to sit at Malcolm's room I have a feeling he was the target, my body senses it somehow.” He nods at me before taking out his cell to call Malcolm a babysitter.

“I’ll go let everyone know.” I informed him and the now present babysitter as he was already headed here to check on us. His name is Victor and he has always been one of Malcolm’s close friends so we decided he would be perfect to sit and watch over him. They both nod and turn to go inside the hospital as I head towards the tunnels below.

‘Lils I can’t put my finger on it but I know something is causing my wolf intuition to go crazy telling me that everything isn’t okay’ Cleo worriedly links me, I agree the same here and I intend to find out what it is driving me and my newly found wolf crazy. As I head towards the entrance of the tunnels I feel a sharp pain inside my body. It turns from a shooting pain to a burning one. I feel as if my insides are on fire, I need it to stop. It is killing me. I can feel my lifeforce draining away from me. Just as quickly as it started it stopped. ‘Someone tried to break the bond between me and you Lily’

“What?” I say out loud to Cleo panic setting in “Why?”

‘I do not know but it can’t be good. Whoever it is doesn’t know we have reconnected which is why it didn’t work. If we would have been still disconnected it would have killed me for sure.”

‘Thank the Goddess we did.’ I sigh in relief my head now pounding as I try to figure out what the f**k is going on. “The question now is who would want to destroy our bond and attack the pack? What would they gain from doing so?”
