First Attack

“What the hell is going on Damien” I screamed over the sirens that were now echoing throughout our little community. We have never used them and I honestly have no clue what they were even for. That was also another advantage of trying to live as a f*****g human, which I am starting to regret daily. “We are being attacked” he rushed his words out before picking me up once again and using his practiced werewolf abilities to run faster than I have ever seen anyone run including Malcolm. “I’m taking you somewhere safe okay”  “What?! The hell you are, I am the Luna of this so-called werewolf pack and I be damned if you are going to keep me from protecting it.” The pride was evident in my voice as well as my determination, with every passing day I became more and more proud to be a she wolf so much that I had decided to start acting like one. He must have seen the look on my face as he stopped running and gently placed me on the ground.  “Please Lily” he begged his voice cracking “I couldn’t bare it if something were to happen to you” his eyes so full of emotion that I almost broke but I couldn’t let my people down and if I wanted my wolf to resurface I had to show her that I was worthy of her now that I would do whatever it took to make her happy, to make her want to be my wolf again. “Sorry D I have to do this. Please don’t be like him and underestimate me. I am way more than either of you know. I can take care of myself.” I smiled at him as he shook his head. “Thank you now, you go find Malcolm I’ll start getting the females, children, and everyone who can’t fight inside the tunnels below, then I’ll head back to meet you by the water tower.” He nodded as one last plea within his eyes shone bright begging to me to stay safe. “Don’t worry I got this” I reassured him before taking off towards the town. Our pack was on the outskirts of a big city we weren’t in the middle of nowhere per say but we did have maybe a 15 min drive before hitting the city, we wanted to go further in but the council wouldn’t allow it even if we had sworn off living with our own kind or living as werewolves normally would they still held power over us and wouldn’t allow us to go any closer to the city for well now more obvious reasons. I never thought we would be attacked, we were so off the radar that I didn’t think anyone but the council knew who or what we really were. That being said, I had a very bad feeling about this.  The center of the town came into view as I began to bark orders at anyone I saw to grab supplies or to go and try to rally everyone together. The tunnels were made back in the day long before we came along. They just came with the territory and thankfully I had made Malcolm go through and reinforce them even though he had seen no point in it then. As the last of the members are rounded up we head underground, it was a good 10 minute walk before we met up with the wolves I had sent to grab supplies.  “Now everyone listen, I will be back for you once whatever is happening is over stay here and do not leave these tunnels is that clear?” They just shook their heads in agreement as not many of the members refer to me as their official Luna since they are just as set on being plain humans as Malcolm was. “Nana Marsh is in charge till I come to get you.” Nana Marsh was an elder wolf who had once lived in a real wolf pack until her mate died around 6 years ago. That's when she left and about 2 years ago came to us wanting to become the head housekeeper. We agreed now she was always the one to turn to if you needed anything. After establishing what was gonna happen I turned to leave heading for whatever was outside fighting us.  As I run out of the tunnels I begin to feel a small presence inside of me and something tells me it’s her, my wolf she was trying to lend me the strength I needed to do this. Just as I run towards the deadly noises I cringe on the inside as I smell the most repulsive thing to ever fill my nostrils causing me to stop only to throw up my breakfast. ‘What the f**k is that’ I think to myself as I regain my composure I herald towards the nasty smell and what seems to be the fight. Of course we are nowhere near the meeting place I had told Damien to get to with Malcolm. Before I can start fighting I notice Damien fighting what seems to be regular humans, he sees me and quickly finishes them off before running over to me.  “There are Rogues and hunters. I don’t know why or what the hell is going on but Lil I can’t find Malcolm anywhere.” My body begins to panic, yes I want to break the bond, yes I am not his biggest fan at the moment but he was still my chosen mate and I didn’t want him to die. No matter how much I wanted to deny it I do still love him and probably always will to some extent even after the breakage.  “You stay here and fight, I’ll go and search for him. Be safe Damien, and even if it is useless can you still try and mindlink me since you have your abilities full force.” He looked surprised that I knew but that was for another time. He nodded as he started to turn away, grabbing him. I quickly hugged him. “Please be careful.” Before he has a chance to reply I take off running.  ‘Please I know you hate me but I need you Rain, I can’t do this without you. I’m sorry for ever trying to shun you out you are the most amazing thing to ever be given to me and I will show you that for the rest of our lives just please come back to me’ I sobbed out loudly after trying to link my wolf who I have named Rain since I don’t know her name. I stop maybe 6 minutes after running to look for Malcolm as I’m clueless to where or what to do, my body feels like it’s shattering from hopelessness but I won’t give up not yet. ‘I love you Rain please.’ Suddenly my body starts to shake as my head begins throbbing, I’m burning the hell up when suddenly I hear a snap. “AHHHHH!” A scream leaves my mouth as realization begins seeping in. 'She's back!!'
