*Chapter 6: A Moment of Intimacy* Ava's heart raced as Marcus's face drew closer. She felt a spark of electricity as their lips almost touched. But just as it seemed like he was going to kiss her, he hesitated, his eyes searching hers. Ava's mind whirled with questions. Did he want to kiss her? Did she want him to? Marcus seemed to sense her uncertainty and pulled back, his expression softening. "I'm sorry," he said, his voice low. "I didn't mean to startle you." Ava smiled, feeling a sense of relief. "You didn't," she said. "I just...I wasn't expecting it." Marcus nodded, his eyes never leaving hers. "I've been wanting to do that for a while now," he said, his voice filled with sincerity. Ava's heart skipped a beat as she met his gaze. She saw the vulnerability in his eyes, the genuine desire for connection. "I've been getting to know you, Ava," Marcus said, his voice gentle. "And I have to say, I'm really enjoying it." Ava's smile grew, and she reached out, her hand touching his. "I'm enjoying it too," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. As they stood there, hands touching, Ava felt a sense of connection with Marcus she hadn't felt before. Maybe, just maybe, this marriage wouldn't be so bad after all.
