Thirty-Six Aftermath For the second time, Robin awoke to the feel of cool hands on his cheeks. But this time he knew who was stroking his face. He tried to smile, but his skin was as stiff as concrete. The hands went away, to be replaced by another pair, a larger, warmer pair. “Move carefully. Open your mouth. Good. Open your eyes.” Robin did as he was told. He half expected for the air to shimmer as it had earlier, but that vision was gone. smiled down at him. “Can you move your limbs?” Robin tested his arms and legs. “Yes.” He wriggled his fingers. “It’s gone.” “Gone?” “That thing I could do using power.” “The Gifting,” the corrected. “The stiffness is a result of you channeling her power.” “Channeling? , did you send me your power when you were unable to use it yourself?”
