Special Chapter: Yuna

1163 Words
My name is Yuna. I am part of the management division of AGF, my main duties are usually related to- Yes, as the name implies, management. More specifically, I am in the position of team leader 2 which has the main task, which is to take care of the aftermath of the Rift. Such as, managing AGF's profits and losses and distributing the guild's share of the profits. Although I was in a "team", in some activities I worked alone because I thought it would be more efficient. I don't mean to disrespect my other teammates, but sometimes I can do things faster alone than with them. In addition to my work, I am also a Tier 1 Awakened. You might ask, "Why don't you join a guild, they usually pay more, right?" True, their pay is more tempting than working at the federation. However, I entered and stayed here because of my past that was directly related to the branch head of AGF South Korea, Sir Wolfe. ... So, I used to be under the auspices of a guild, named the—Hm. Maybe I won't mention the name, let's just say that the guild still exists today and is a fairly large guild. Long story short, my team was assigned to execute the Rift that appeared in the guild's jurisdiction back then, and at that time I was also made as the vice team leader. After we made a plan, we headed straight to the scene. Once there, without further ado and orders, everyone in the team immediately executed the plan. However, it was my first Rift, so I was still scared when I came face to face with the figure of the Abyss. I was shouted several times by my teammates and some even went so far as to push me to attack. I was still silent as I saw my teammates who were desperately struggling against the Abyss that kept appearing, some were already dying, some were covered in blood, and some were already not breathing. My mental state was shaken, I unconsciously swung my sword full of mana. As a result, I burned everything in front of me. Fortunately, it was still within my team's plan and we survived—some of us. The battle was fast-paced, and we all sighed. After things died down, my team leader met with the staff from the surveillance division to discuss closing the Rift. I rested on the floor, my legs weak—No, I was weak all over. I looked around me and saw that there were a few glares directed at me, but I didn't really care. Until the team leader called out to all of us, "Everyone! Gather here for a moment." "So we're going to postpone the closing, because there are casualties from our side. So—," my team leader's explanation was cut off by someone, "Wait a minute team leader! Someone should apologise to us, even to all the victims!" The person had a tall and large body, brown skin, I couldn't really see his face because he was wearing a mask and hoodie that covered part of his face. He was the one who looked at me cynically as I rested. "Hah—Look, everyone's scared, especially since this is her first raid, don't blame the individual here too much," my team leader said calmly. However, that person didn't accept it and started to raise his tone, "Leader! Someone died! THEY DIED! Are you heartless or what?" Some people agreed with him and started to respond to my team leader. Until finally he couldn't stand it and shouted, "LISTEN! SHE'S YOUNG, FORCED TO DO THIS BRUTAL JOB, WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM HER?" he sighed and continued, "You're expecting too much from her just because she's a Tier 1. Rank isn't everything in a job like this, experience counts too!" That's when I got scared, even more than when I faced Abyss. A 16-year-old girl who had to fight with the dangers of this world. I also felt more and more guilty, on the verge of tears, until an unfamiliar voice—a bit robotic spoke from a distance, "What's the matter?" "Branch chief!" That's what my team leader said, as he bowed respectfully. What I saw there was not a person but a display of some sort of video call on a tablet held by a federation staff member, showing the figure of the branch chief. Full of authority, his voice was capable of making anyone who heard it tremble. My team leader explained what had just happened, from start to finish, without leaving anything out. That man could only remain silent in front of the branch chief. After listening to the full context, he said, "Hm. I will supervise her directly, she will be released from the guild and placed in the federation." Everyone was shocked and could only agree to the request. However, that didn't mean that the glares they gave me would stop, it continued until I was completely out of their sight. I didn't know what to do, and just followed his request. The federation staff took me to his car. I didn't say anything in the car, and the staff didn't want to bother me either. Some time passed as we arrived at the main building of the South Korean branch of the federation, where I was guided to a room that had to pass through hallways and lifts. Arriving in the room, I was only shown a large monitor on a table. There was the figure of the branch head again, and he introduced himself, "Welcome to AGF South Korea, my name is Wolfe as the chief here, you will be my subordinate." He continued, "I've seen the video, and I've seen the video." He continued, "I've seen the video and I think you'll be a good fit here." "C-Chief won't punish me?" I asked. "For what reason? Tt's not your fault—No, rather, it should be their fault. They expect too much for a new 16 years old Awakened with no experience whatsoever, and all that is just because you got a Tier 1 recently," he replied. "Relax—I'll teach you how to become a great Awakened," his words made my heart skip a beat as if this was my calling. ... From there, I became a part of South Korea's AGF. At 16 years old, I was the youngest staff member there. I also started training every day under the direct guidance of Sir Wolfe. My respect for him is very high, he is the person who saved me from irresponsible people, and was able to make me who I am today. That's the reason why I chose to be part of the federation instead of the guild. And, now that 2 years have passed, I've been assigned to be the assistant and trainer for his grandson, I'll make sure he outgrows me.
