After dressing in a knee-length green dress patterned with small white flowers, she stepped out of her room and asked the first servant she saw about her father-in-law. Fortunately, he was at home, and the servant informed her that he was in his study. Without wasting another second, she marched toward the study. It was located in a quiet, far-off corner at the back of the mansion. She knocked softly before hearing a curt, “Come in.” Pushing the door open, she stepped inside. Her eager yet nervous eyes scanned the room and landed on her husband, seated casually in a chair across from his father.
