15 I scrambled to open the door, my hand slipping from the handle too many times for my liking. Blood pumped in my ears despite me trying to calm myself down. I finally managed to get purchase on the handle, and turned it. I slipped into the room and slammed it shut behind me. I doubted a closed door was going to put him off for long, but any time gained was good from where I was standing. The room in front of me was dark and filled with rubbish. No doubt it was designed to make this all the harder for Mr Muldvarp's prey to escape. I didn't quite understand what he was getting out of this, but I wasn't quite ready to give in to him.
