*Arthemis POV*
I blacked out. It was just all this nervousness in the air, it was just too much for me. I couldn't take any of the information anymore, my body was growing heavy, I could feel my wolf yelp in despair. My knees buckled under me and I was waiting to hit the ground... but a pair of strong arms wrapped around my waist. All I could remember is the scent...Honeysuckle blossoms? Earthy ground after a rain? And something foreign, one could describe as Home. Oscar!
I felt a hand caressing mine, humming a very familiar song. MY song! The song I used to sing to my friends when they were afraid, as they did to me. Then a hushed rich voice began to sing the lyrics! My eyes fluttered open, and there sitting, caught up in the storm, sat my breathtaking best friend.
"Wait a minute, did you just say- I mean, think our best friend is breathtaking?!", Twilight growled. She has her heart set on finding our mate, but I... I don't believe in love at first sight. I looked upon his features: Brownish Blond hair, that looked messy. It totally suited him though! These hazel eyes that had a hint of gold in them. A chiseled athletic face, with dimples every time he smiled, and Oh, that smile of him, he could light up a room when he smiled! I never had feelings for this young man in front of me, but I fear that they are changing!
I looked about in this foreign room, clutching my head in pain, because it still hurt like hell, I was looking around frantically, till I recognized the only thing familiar to me... Oscar!
He still looked concerned at my well being, grasping my hand in his. I gazed into his eyes, inching closer to him... I stared at his mouth, ignoring Twilight's howls of warning in my head. He leaned closer, and our mouths met. Kissing Oscar, it was like feeling sunlight hit my skin for the first time in years! It started slow and yet here we are, still kissing. I pulled away, my heart fluttering, my head feeling like Twilight clawed it. Oscar stood there, looking surprised. He leaned back in, our heads so close that it's touching. Suddenly there was a creak. Lily and Amelia, the palace's servants, but our best friend's walked in. It Oscar who pulled away this time. Seeing Amelia and Lily's pale and shocked faces, he gulped before saying,"I- I have to uh, check that everything is in order for tomorrow night's ball... see you later Ladies, Princess."Oh no! He only calls me by my Royal title when he is either flushed, embarrassed, or mad at me. I turn around, to face my two best friend's gazes upon me.
"What just happened", they said aloud. I heave a sigh,"Dearest Lily, Melia, I myself find this very confusing... but I fear I have developed feelings for Oscar...", I said slightly blushing. "But he is not your mate Arthemis...", Lily said worried. "I know...", I said, feeling my heart break at this thought. "Luna Isadora sent us here to fit your gown for tomorrow night's ball.", Amelia continued.I did not wish to face my family, nor my mate. I hated dresses since I was a child, now I had no other choice to be forced into one. I shall not enjoy tomorrow night's festivities!
As I fitted the dress, I studied myself in the mirror. It was a pastel blue satin dress, with an off shoulder design, with a long train. It had a slit up too my mid thigh. There wasn't any lace or any embroidery, which I liked, because the plain dress intrigued me. My ash blond locks fell to my waist so I insisted on keeping it elegant. "It suits you Missy", Amelia said! I smiled at my best friend, this was her and Lily's nickname for me ever since we were pups.
I saw they're eyes were cloudy, which once again means mindlinking! We said our goodbyes, and they hurried out of the room. Which was strange, but then again... this is my first time roaming in the castle since eighteen years ago, so I don't know what they do when they are not with me.
As I kept looking at myself in the mirror, I haven't heard the door creak open. Almost in an instant, I see Lance beside me. "Doesn't look like the same person back in that little room of yours right?", he asked, his voice neutral. It was frustrating, because I couldn't hear a hint of sarcasm. I didn't respond to his question. He grabbed my arm, tightly, still looking at the reflection of us in the mirror. He brushed away a strand of hair behind my ear with his free hand, and brushed his lips sickeningly close to my ear,"I don't want you to toy with Oscar's feelings, he is my Delta, I don't want his head filled with fantasies about you two.In other words, I know about your little kiss... Quite adorable actually!" he sneered. Aahh here it was, the sarcasm and insulting voice and manner I was waiting for. "And who are you to tell me what to do? I had a moment of weakness when you and Delilah humiliated me in front of the family! Don't mistake my vulnerable moment with Oscar, as a weakness, dear brother!", I said in a hushed tone. His emotions flooded his face before he finally spoke," I am the crown prince, and the next in line Alpha, and what I say... goes!" He laughed bitterly as I stood in shock. Then he started caressing my arm, it was completely out of line, but he found pleasure in seeing my shocked face. "Dearest sister, do not underestimate me, because I am not as kind as you think. I do hope you find a mate, and then you can finally leave Oscar and Wendlyn behind!" And with that, without thinking, I slapped him across his face, and run out of the room, feeling the tears stinging my eyes for the second time today. I ran along the corridors with my gown for tomorrow still on me. I found an open room, that was ready for a guest, probably for tomorrow, and shut myself in it. I slid down crying... refusing to accept that tomorrow, I shall unite another kingdom, and be in another pack... away from Wendlyn, maybe even farther away from Oscar... my Oscar.
Just then I heard the balcony doors open up, but I didn't even acknowledge the presence in front of me, that is, until he cleared his throat.
