Scarlet Flame* ON-GOING *

Samara POV

I pinch myself just to make sure that I was not dreaming, I blink so many times just to make sure I'm seeing what I'm seeing. I see people that can fly and some people that have fire in their palms, night is bright for it is filled with glowing lights. My eyes are filled with amazement while I walk towards the headmaster's office. 

"So you have no idea that this place exists?" Vana asks while she pops one of the lights near her. I shook my head in response. She is assisting me since I don't have any idea where I am. She did tell me a few things about this place and from what I remember about the book I read long ago it did match. 

So far this is what I know, there are 6 elements which are air, fire, earth water, and the two rare ones light and darkness. Apparently, at 15 years old elemental can possess one element, and this school is for the kids that haven't fully harness their natures or elements. 

Pero hindi ko maintindihan bakit matagal itinago ito nang aking ama, ang daming bumabagabag sa aking pag iisip at dumadagdag pa ang pag aalala ko sa aking ama at madrasta. 

"We're here," Vana announced and pointed at a massive wooden double door. She knock three times and a masculine but familiar voice answer. The door open at isang pamilyar na mukha ang sumalubong sa amin. 

"Welcome Ms. Don." Panimula nito, dun ko lamang naalala kung saan ko ito unang nakita, He was headmaster Echethier, I met him at my old school. "Ms. Ginemour maari mo ba itong iabot kay professor Vernize." Pahayag nito at inabot ang isang puting sobre. Vana took it and left immediately. She sure is obedient 

"Ms. Don please have a sit," he said breaking the silence between us. "I know you have a lot of questions on your mind right now, and I will try to answer as much as I can" I was hesitant at first but eventually I asked him. 

"Where is my family and what is this place?" I asked him. 

"This place is Lunar Academy school of elements, we teach students that possessed elements and you Ms. Don possess a certain nature" he starts. "Long ago mortals and etherals live in one world peacefully. We help each other and make the world grow and rich, but that all changes when mortals start using etherals for their benefit, they invented a machine that takes nature from an immature vessel. Kids were taken from their homes and were brought to a facility and took their elements, most of them died on the process." He continues. 

Images were flashed through my mind and scream that only I can hear, kids were screaming in pain begging for them to stop. I see five kids enter with chains on their hands and men with no remorse on their faces.

"When Lord Bardhyl found out he was furious, he ordered all of etherals to fight back and capture all the mortals that betrayed us. They were brought to Nethilor Kingdom and face Lord Bardhyl himself, He punished them by turning them into beings of darkness, it was neither human nor an animal, it has a wolf-like face and a crocked human body, it was called a night caller." and just like that I remember the night when I saw one, Alzalam I can still its voice echo. "They vanished in Arden Lost and was locked up there for centuries. Lord Bardhyl made sure that it will never happen again, He made a barrier on all mortals heads and block their memories of our existence and from there all are peaceful but sixteen years ago Arden Lost was disturbed and a few of the night caller has escaped, they were weak but that doesn't stop them from praying on immature vessels, they suck on natures until there's none left just like what they did before."

Chills run down my spine, if no one had saved me that night I would have been dead by now. It made me more worried. Where is my father?

"We tried to find your father and stepmother Samara, but they were nowhere to be found, when we arrive at your house that night it was just you." He told me sympathetically. "It's like their existence was never there. The kingdom is still finding answers but for now, you need to remain here in Ethereal Isle" I felt my heart stop for a second when I heard him. I can't believe they're gone. 

"They're still alive right?" I asked him, I felt tears run down my cheek. He didn't answer he just look at me with deep sadness. Wipe your tears Sam the memories of my father's voice echo's my thoughts. I wiped the tears on my cheek. Tears are a sign of weakness and I will not be seen as weak. My father raised me strong and I do what it takes to get them back.

"Sam wake up!" I felt my body shake and heard Vana's voice trying to wake me up, but I wasn't having it. A week had already passed and my first day will start today. I started late because of my recovery, most of my natures are back, but I haven't really used it yet, I don't even know what my nature is. 

I felt the place shake and an earthquake was happening, My body was squash unto the ceiling that's when I realize Vana just used her nature to lift my bed unto the ceiling. I shouted in frustration.

"Good your awake, now get up and get dress, Professor Vernize will see you." I had no choice but to get up, Vana is so persistent at sa isang lingo kong kasama ito ay araw araw nya itong ipinapakita. 

I saw my uniform ready on the side of my bed waiting for me to be worn. Vana must have prepared it. 

I was about to get dress when I felt eyes staring at me. Lumingon ako at nakitang naroon pa rin si Vana. I cleared my throat indicating that I was going to get dress. I saw her cheek turned red, she apologize and went downstairs to her bed. Napailing ako at nag simula ng mag bighis. 

Kahit papano ay thankful ako kay Vana, she's a great person and she tells me everything that I have to know. She grew up in Ethereal Isle in a small town called Solime, its a town full of crops and field, most of the people there possess earth element.

I glance at myself in the mirror next to my wardrobe, I fix my almond hair and tied it in a ponytail. I straightened my white bow and went downstairs to meet Vana. Pag labas pa lang namin ay naramdaman ko na ang mga matang nag mamasid. I figured they already know what had happened. 

There are a few night caller attacks and kids rarely survive when it happens, and I was one of the lucky ones. We arrive at the infirmary to meet Professor Vernize they wanted to know what nature I possess to determine my fraction. 

"How are you feeling Sam?" the school nurse asked. Her name is Sara, she's mortal and she works here in Ethereal Isle as a school nurse her ancestor was one of few people that Lord Bardhyl entrusted to their memory. 

"I'm feeling better" I answer and gave her a faint smile. I feel physically fine but I'm still worried about my father I can't help myself to wonder if they're still alive, I cry almost every night praying for their safety. I brushed my thoughts feeling depressed will not help me. 

"I'm sure the Kingdom is trying their best to find where your family is." She assured me. Her warm smile gave me somewhat security, I'm glad that there are mortals here even though I'm not one-off them anymore. 

I'm still adjusting to this place, a week ago I was just a "normal" teenager having problems by just fitting-in in school. I understand now why I always feel different from my fellow students and why my father always says that I am gifted to why he raised me the way he did, it's because I am not of that world. 

My thought was disturbed when Professor Vernize enter the infirmary. She gave me a forest green gew. What am I going to do with this? I look at it with disgust and confusion.

"Well, what are you waiting for?" She asked with her deep authorized voice. "Eat it Ms. Don" she continue when she saw my still confused face. 

"No thanks," I said with disgust, I'm not putting that on my mouth, I don't even know what that is. 

"Eat it!" madiin na sabi nito sakin. I looked at her to make sure she was serious and regret it instantly when I saw her eyes change into cat eyes. What the heck! I have no choice but to eat it, I don't wanna be in trouble. 

I closed my eyes and cover my nose and quickly pop it into my mouth. My body shake in disgust, ang pait, I heard Vana and Nurse Sara chuckle. 

"Good, now you will feel a little sting on your arm but it's normal." the three of them back out a little when I felt a strong pain in my right arm. I thought it was just a sting?  

I shouted when I felt like my hand was burning. I clench my palm in pain, I felt the burn moved from my shoulder down to my arm and when I opened my palm flame came out of it, the pain was no longer there. I looked at the flame that my hand produces, It has an unusual color, it was darker just like the bird I saw, it was scarlet.

"Congratulation Ms. Don you're a Horux " Professor Vernize said. I look up at the three of them and their faces look surprised, they look at each other but didn't say a word, it's like they're communicating through their minds. I closed my palm and the flame magically vanish like it was never there. 

"Is there something wrong?" I asked curiously. 

"We just think that your flames have a unique color that's all" Professor Vernize said dismissively. "Why don't you girls go to your second nature," She said with authority. 

Palabas na kami ng infirmary nang tinawag ako ni Professor Vernize. 

"Everything will be alright, you just need to trust us." Ngumiti ito saakin, that's the first time I saw her smile, I can't help myself but feel relief. 

I will trust them, I may not know this place last week but I feel like I've known the people for so long, and for the first time, I feel like I belong.
