Writer's POV
Elena’s heels clicked softly against the marble floors as she slipped away from the grand ballroom. The engagement party had gone on long enough, suffocating her with its fake smiles and whispered gossip. She needed air, but the hallways of the luxurious Hotel felt just as stifling.
She wasn’t sure how she ended up near the private suites, but the moment she heard Alexander’s deep voice, she froze.
The door to one of the rooms was slightly ajar, and curiosity got the best of her.
Then, she heard it.
A soft moan. A breathy gasp. The unmistakable sound of bodies moving against silk sheets.
Elena’s heart stopped.
She should have turned away. She should have walked back downstairs and pretended she never came up here. But her feet stayed glued to the plush carpet as her entire world started crumbling.
Then came Alexander’s voice, low and husky.
“Thats never going to happen, she is nothing but a business deal to me and it remains that way forever”
Elena’s stomach twisted violently.
Her fingers clenched the folds of her dress as she peeked through the tiny opening in the door. Her breath hitched when she saw them—Alexander lying on the bed beside a woman she instantly recognized.
Becca.
His “crush”.
Elena stumbled back, her hand flying to her mouth to stifle the sob threatening to escape. The man she was supposed to marry—the man her parents had practically sold her to—was upstairs in a hotel suite, making love to another woman while their engagement party was still going on.
And worse… he had no intention of making her anything more than a contract. A business deal.
Tears burned her eyes, but anger slowly replaced the pain. With one last look at them, she walked away.
ELENA
I couldn't bear what I just saw and heard, so I walked away. I was just walking without any destination in mind with tears in my eyes until I bumped into someone, Lucas
“I am sorry” I said
“It's fine, are you ok?” He asked, I just nodded and walked away
I walked till I got to what seem like a garden, I couldn't take it anymore and I just let the tears flow
I know I shouldn't allow this get to me but I can't stop it. The thought that the man I got engaged to thinks of me as a business deal.
I sat there for an hour till I saw guests leaving the hotel. The party is finally over. I met Kat on my way back in and we went home today. Immediately I got, I just showered and slept off.
The next day, I woke up with a slight headache from yesterday's exhaustion. I had a flashback to what happened yesterday and immediately made a mental note to avoid Alex as much as I can. The time was 8:30 am meaning I missed breakfast, I just refreshed up and went downstairs.
I greeted mum, dad had already gone to work
“Are you ok honey?” Mum asked with a worried look on her face.
“I am fine mom, just a little headache, I will take drugs and I will be fine” I said and she nodded
Ashley came downstairs and as always pretended I wasn't there.
“Good morning Ash”
“It's Ashley for you and keep your greeting to yourself”
To be honest, her rude attitude was slowly getting on my nerves but I just masked my angry face with a forced smile.
Alex came downstairs, greeted mum and sat beside Ashley
“Well… Elena you will be moving to Alex’s house in two days time and after the wedding, you will resume school, is that ok?” Mum said and I nodded with a smile.
The fact that I am moving in with Alex was really disturbing, I remembered what I saw yesterday and felt sick to my stomach. I looked at him with so much disgust, he looked at me, and I withdrew my gaze.
Monster. I cursed under my breath.
The doorbell rang, the maid opened it and..
Good morning Beatrice” mum said, hugging the strange woman who came in.
The woman entered followed by two familiar faces– Rebecca and Mia. I guess the woman is their mother
“Good morning Caroline” Mrs Alison replied.
I glanced at Rebecca and saw her glaring at me– I recognise that look; hatred, disdain and mockery
