Chapter Seven: He Doesn't Care

1349 Words
It was finally a new week, and I was to resume school. I am sure the news of me getting married to Alexander Rodriguez would have reached everyone by now, and even how he didn't show up at the Wedding party. When Dad asked him about that, he claimed he had work to do. I got to school and as I walked down the hallway, all eyes were on me. I could read their facial expressions; pity, hatred, envy and curiosity. “Hey baby girl, I heard the news and I am disappointed, you didn't tell me you were getting married” my friend, Hazel said as we made our way to class for the first period. Hazel is the only friend I have. She is my friend, my best friend and also a sister to me. “I am sorry, it happened so fast and I didn't even have the time to tell you” I said. “It's fine, I mean you are married to Alexander Rodriguez, THE ALEXANDER RODRIGUEZ, I am happy for you baby girl. You have no idea how many girls that are envious of you” she said and I gave a fake smile. If only she knew. “So”she brought her hand as a microphone to my mouth,” how does it feel like to be the wife of a billionaire?” She asked. We were interrupted as the teacher walked in and the class commenced. R&G GROUP THE CEO’S OFFICE “C’mon man, you f****d up, how can you not be present at your own wedding” Lucas said, “it was embarrassing especially for your wife, she had to give answers to different people for something that you did” “I had some work to do” Alexander said, feeling irritated at the word “wife”. “Seriously Alex, that wasn't nice of you” Lucas said “And when has Alexander Rodriguez ever been nice?” Damien asked in a sarcastic tone. “Come on Alex, you are being harsh to this little girl” Lucas said. “Well she has to endure it for just two years and then she is free to go” Alexander said. “Just like that?, you will let her loose after using her. Why the f**k are my not surprised” Damien said. “By the dude, How is Kat doing?” Lucas asked “Seriously dude, stay away from my sister, don't say I didn't warn you”Alexander said sternly. “Come on, I…..” Lucas was interrupted by a knock on the door. The door was opened and Becca walked in “Hi Lucas, Hi Damien” She was putting on a black gown that stopped just below her ass with silver heels. It was obvious what she came for. “Hi Becca, good to see you” Damien said “Alex, we will be on our way now” Lucas said and gave Alex a knowing smile and left with Damien. “Hi baby” Becca said, walking seductively towards Alex, “How are you doing?” Alex looked at her smirking as she traced her fingers on his chest. Within a twinkle of an eye, he turned her on his table, he felt her thighs. Without panties. Hmmm, just the way he love it. He slammed her and within seconds their moans filled the room. Elena’s POV It was time for lunch and to be sincere I didn't want to eat at the cafeteria but Hazel literally dragged me to the cafeteria. The cafeteria was buzzing with laughter and clinking trays as students gathered in their usual groups. At the center of it all, Amber, the school’s self-proclaimed queen bee, leaned against a table with a smug grin. “Hey, Mrs. Billionaire!” Her voice rang across the room, silencing a few whispers. “What’s it like being a contracted wife? Do you clock in and out like a real job?” I froze mid-step, my fingers tightening around my lunch tray. I could actually feel the weight of a hundred eyes pressing down on me, waiting for a reaction. Amber smirked and flipped her perfect blonde curls. “Come on, tell us! Did he marry you out of pity, or were you traded for something in return?” Laughter rippled through the crowd. “El, come on, just ignore her” Hazel said to me in a whisper. “Or did you trap him with you know….voodoo and a little black magic” I took a deep breath, trying my best to stay calm. But something in me just snapped. I slowly turned and walked straight toward Amber, my heels clicking against the floor like a warning. I stopped just inches away, tilting my head. “You’re really obsessed with my marriage, Amber. Should I be worried? Because if you’re that interested in my husband, I can let him know you’re available.” Amber’s face darkened. “Excuse me?” I leaned in, my voice dropping just enough for the surrounding students to hear. “Oh, wait. Never mind. He has actual standards.” A chorus of “Ooooh!” erupted from the crowd. Amber’s smirk vanished, replaced by a scowl. I smiled sweetly. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a billionaire husband to go home to. You? You’ll still be here, obsessing over my life.” With that, I turned and walked away , leaving Amber fuming and the entire cafeteria in stunned silence. I left the cafeteria with Hazel following me. This is the first I am confronting Amber, most times I just ignore her. But I have had enough. I am just so fed up with her disgusting and stinking attitude. After classes, the driver to pick me up, I baded goodbye to Hazel and went home. Writer's POV Elena slammed the front door shut, kicked her shoes off and let out a frustrated sigh. The encounter with Amber still replays in her head but she was glad that she won that round. “That is no right way to shut a door” Her heart skipped. She turned to see Alex sitting in the dimly lit living room with his laptop. His sharp gaze swept over her, unreadable as always. Elena crossed her arms, “And what is it to you how I close a door?” “Well for starters this is my house,s…..” “I think you mean, “our house”, the last time I checked we were married” Elena interrupted. Alex exhaled, settling down the glass of whiskey in his hand “Your school called about an incident. Some girl harassing you?” His voice was calm but there was something in his tone that made her uneasy. “It was nothing, just a jealous brat who can't mind her business” Elena said, “Don't worry I can handle it” “No I will handle it” He said in a tone that made her feel protected. Elena's eyes widened,”you are not getting involved in my school issues or dramas even if you care” “Don't flatter yourself, I am only getting involved because your name is attached to mine now. People will talk and I have a reputation to protect” he said. “Oh wow. How sweet and romantic” Elena said sarcastically. Alex took slow steps towards her, his presence overwhelming. “Don't get sarcastic with me young lady”he murmured. The air between them thickened. Elena swallowed hard, suddenly hyper-aware of how close he was. This wasn’t in the contract. This tension, this feeling—it wasn’t supposed to happen. She turned away abruptly. “I can handle Amber myself.” Alex studied her for a moment, then nodded. “Fine. But if she crosses the line again…” He let the threat hang in the air. Elena didn’t respond. She just climbed the stairs, her heart pounding for a reason that had nothing to do with Amber.
