The next morning, golden sunlight filtered through the curtains and spilled across the bed. Chris rolled over on instinct, reaching out to pull the woman sleeping beside him into his arms, only his hand met empty air. He blinked his eyes open, and all his fingers found were cold, empty sheets. A cold, heavy dread dropped straight into his gut in an instant. "Rose? Where are you?"
