Suddenly, men’s voices echoed across the quiet night. Sally sat up, her eyes wide. “Are they back, Miss Wentworth? Those men?” “I think so, Sally. No matter what happens, you stay in this tent, do you hear me?” She nodded and I went outside to investigate. Moses Johnstone, Josiah McPherson, Jonas Blackwood, and Archie Starkey had their horses loaded with the supplies they wanted. I don’t know how they managed without the watch noticing, unless our watch was in on it. The thieves also had four of our horses. Some of the men from our train yelled at the burglars, brandishing their guns, while others stood back, waiting.
