Chapter 16 Tonight Hiram Wetherfield showed his uses beyond guiding us West. The brothers who played their instruments for us when we first started our journey lost heart and we’ve been without music for weeks. Hiram was inspired after his evening smoke and he pulled a fiddle from the back of his wagon. Willie called Takodah over. “Takodah Wetherfield, you come over here right now and sit with us while your husband plays a tune or two.” Takodah nodded in thanks and made herself comfortable beside me on the quilt.
