My chest burned with fury, and my hands shot out before I could think. “MOM!!!” I shouted, yanking Maurene’s arm as I shoved my way through the crowd. “What the hell are you saying? Shut the hell up!”
She sneered at me, completely unbothered. “You really are pathetic, Elena. How long are you going to keep defending that monster?”
“What monster?!” I shouted, my voice cracking. “Eric is my boyfriend! God, you’re ruining everything…again!”
A voice from the crowd muttered, “Everyone knows Eric Thompson and Ms. Grey are together. Be careful…accusing a noble is dangerous. Accusing an Alpha? Suicide.”
“I don’t care!” Maurene’s chin lifted, defiance burning in her eyes. “I’ll protect my daughter. I’ll make sure Elena gets what she deserves. Eric Thompson is a predator.
