  Elena’s POV   The first gunshot rang out, sharp and terrifying. For a split second, I froze. Then my heart slammed against my ribs, someone was shooting at the playground!   “Ah ah….Run! Helena screamed and ran off with some kids. I didn’t even think about myself. Only one thing mattered: the children. They were all I could see.   “Down! Get down!” I shouted, throwing myself over the nearest kids, Tito and four others, covering them with my body.   They screamed, cried, and flailed. Panic had taken over. I grabbed   their hands and pulled them low to the ground. “Crawl! Crawl to me! Stay under me! Don’t look up!”   A bullet ricocheted nearby, sending grit into my hair. Pain stabbed my leg.
