Elena’s POV
“You’re insane. Completely obsessed,” Mark snapped. “I’m done with this stupid game.” He got to his feet and walked away.
“Mark, come back here!” Bella jumped up and shouted after him. “You don’t just walk out on me!” But he was already gone.
Bella stood there for a few seconds, breathing hard, staring at the space he’d disappeared into. Then her shoulders dropped. She sank back onto the couch, covered her face with her hands, and broke down in tears.
Eric shot up from his seat. “Is that how he treats you?” he growled. “Like you’re nothing?” Bella didn’t answer. She just cried harder.
“You’re a Thompson heiress,” Eric went on, his voice shaking with anger. “No one gets to treat you like that. I won’t let him get away with this.”
