“You can't do this! No…stop!” The shout ripped out of me before I could think. My chest felt too tight, my heart racing like it wanted to break free. This couldn’t be happening. No matter how cruel Magmus was, he wouldn’t actually kill a patient… would he? He couldn’t cross that line. Not even him. I stared straight at him, barely breathing.
He stared back; calm, relaxed, almost amused. Like my fear was entertaining.
Then he laughed softly. “Relax, Sara. There’s no need for bloodshed.” His tone was light, casual. “If a patient refuses to cooperate, we simply stop their treatment.”
