Chapter Thirteen Erik and Jia rushed to the Argo, strapped into their exoskeletons, and boarded the cargo flitter, along with Anne and Kant. Emma lifted off before they’d all finished locking their exoskeletons into place. Jia took slow, even breaths. Her heart didn’t pound in every battle anymore. Fighting grotesque monsters and cybernetic chimeras had become routine in its own twisted way. The human mind was remarkably adaptable. Not that her steely will arose from nothing.
