THE KNIGHT ANGEL Standing in front of the Shears once more, I held Haralabos’s book in my hand. The one small thing I had decided would get me back into Iris’s good graces was to give her the book back. Or at least tell her why I took it. The mechanism on the giant door seemed infinitely louder when I pulled on it tonight, the ancient oak somehow mindful of my wish to remain discreet.
