Lydia.
I sighted Jazmine a few blocks away from our apartment, while I came back from Liam’s place, as my gaze furrowed when I saw her in a conversation with a man I did not recognize. A conversation which seemed to be an argument, while I moved closer to where she was, and I began to hear her voice raise.
“I don’t know you, can you leave me alone!” Jazmine’s voice raised, but instead of the guy in front of her to leave her be, he grabbed her by the arm when she tried to walk away, and that was my cue and I rushed to her.
“She said you should leave her alone, your asshole,” On reflex, I poured the smoothie in my hand on him, which Liam got me that morning before I left his place, as I watched Jazmine’s gaze go wide, and the hand the unfamiliar man had on her released instantly.
“f*****g hell!” The guy turned to me, as I stared at my smoothie drool over his face.
“Lydia?” Jazmine stared at me in perplexity with her eyes wide. “What are you doing here?”
“I saw him harassing you.” I said before dragging her away from him.
“I wasn’t harassing her, I was just trying to explain myself to her!” The guy spoke as he tried to wipe the smoothie off his face. “We met at Hunter’s dorm party,” He added, while my gaze turned to Jazmine. “You were there also, Lydia right?” My gaze went livid, as both I and Jazmine stared at each other in stun, having heard him call my name.
“I…what did you say your name was again?” Jazmine asked him, as all I could do was stare at my smoothie which dropped from his hair to his face, and at that moment, I swear I almost laughed, if not for the solemnity of the situation.
“Sean.” He said, while I heard him mutter a curse under his breath trying to clean off the smoothie from his body, but no matter how he tried, it was never going to come off without a bath.
That’s was how much I poured on him. I literally poured the whole cup.
Now that I thought of it, I wish I hadn’t, for I was starving.
“Wait, the guy we did drink or spill with?” Jazmine spoke, while her eyebrows furrowed.
“Yeah,” Sean answered, and I watched Jazmines gaze go wide.
“Oh my God! f**k! I’m so sorry…I…” Jazmine ran a hand through her hair in realization, whereas I only remained perplexed not recalling s**t. “I…I’m so sorry, I didn’t realize it was you…I was having a bad day and I…shit! I’m so sorry.” Jazmine apologized intently and I began to feel like an i***t by just standing there and watching. “He was in my team and your opponent at Hunter’s party.” Jazmine turned to me, while she tried to explain who he was, yet I remained dumbfounded. “The guy who took more drinks than spilled. The one we said looked like Shawn mendes.” Jasmine explained to me, as my mouth formed an o shape, recalling the guy in front of us.
My gaze looked at him from up to down, as I began to rethink my words the other day of saying he looked like Shawn mendes, for the guy in front of me was most Shawn mendesing at all.
Perhaps we were drunk.
Oh we were definitely drunk.
“I’m gonna leave now,” The guy spoke as our attention focused back to him and I began to feel bad about my actions.
“I’m sorry,” I said with a sad smile, whereas he only nodded before he left, and I couldn’t have felt more bad about my impatience.
Try to take a chill Lydia.
“I feel so bad now.” My gaze reminded on Sean who left, for when I would turn my gaze back to Jasmine, I met her gaze on me. Unlike Jazmine, she would have said something as he left, but she didn’t, rather her gaze lingered on me one last time, before she left my side and began waking away. “Jaz,” I called Jazmine, but she neither turned nor responded to me. “Jaz “ I called her again, while I began walking behind her.
“What is it Lydia?” Jazmine answered, and still yet she doesn’t turn to me, which made me realize she was still mad at me. I knew I shouldn’t have said what I said to her the other day, and I was at fault for she was only looking after me, yet, I could t control the emotions that surged through me of the feeling of frustration.
“I know you’re mad at me. I’m sorry.” I said, and still yet Jazmine continued walking and didn’t turn to me. “I’m sorry Jaz, I really am.” I said again, as this time I stopped in my tracks.
“You know what Lydia, you don’t get to pull that kind of s**t you did the other day and just because you know I care about you, doesn’t give you the right to throw out in my face.” Jasmine said, as she now turned to me while I saw the hurt in her eyes.
“I’m sorry,” I said again, while i stared back at her in guilt.
“This isn’t about you apologizing. I know we all have shits going on and yes, you had it hard but f**k it Lydia, I also have demons of my one, yet, you don’t see me blaming them on you or making you feel less than you are.” Jazmine said with the both of us on the streets, as the persons that passed by, glanced at us.
“I know…”
“No you don’t know shit.” Jazmine cut me off and I kept shut instantly, for one thing I knew about Jazmine was that, when she was extremely mad or hurt, she cursed a lot. “I know Scott f****d up, yet, put yourself in his shoes or in our situation where you said shots to me that hurt me, but you came to apologize, which he also did the same, so because of that shouldn’t I also turn a blind eye and be angry forever?” Jazmine asked me, as my gaze now left her’s, for I didn’t expect her to bring Scott into our affairs once again. But yet, he was both our best friend.
“I only felt concerned Lydia and I wouldn’t have if I wasn’t your friend and the attitude you pulled up was s**t and getting overboard.” Jazmine scolded, whereas I remained shut and let her speak, for if I really wanted to make amends with her, I needed to let her rant it all out. I watched Jazmine container rants, as whatever more she said just passed through my ears and I didn’t listen to any, while I only stared at her mouth moving at the fastest speed per second, and a smile began to make way to my lips.
Yes, I missed this. I missed my best friend, I missed having her scold me and even if it was just for a day or two, I knew the impact of Jazmine in my life. I felt her absence, and the guilt kept thumping in my chest all through while I was with Liam, to the extent Liam noticed my melancholy nature. And yet, I couldn’t tell him, for I didn’t know where to begin, knowing I was at fault.
“What? Why are you smiling?” Jazmine asked me, as that was enough to pull me out of my thoughts.
“Nothing, I just missed you.” I said and Jasmine went quiet with her gaze only silent at me.
“Shut up.” Jazmine said, and a chuckle escaped my lips.
“I mean it. I really missed you.” I said again, as this time she refused to remain eye contact with me. “I really don’t know what I would do without you Jaz and I know I f****d up big time, but I’m sorry. I’m really sorry.” I told her sincerely. “Can you forgive me?” I said with a raised brow, whereas Jazmine doesn’t say anything but stare at me. “We’d go on an ice cream date,” I told her with a smirk on my lips, knowing how it was a temptation for Jazmine.
“You idiot.” Jazmine said, as I saw a tiny of smile on her lips, taking a chuckle to escape my lips. “I don’t want ice cream.” Jazmine said with her eyes soft at me.
“How about movie date then?” I asked her with a smile on my lips.
“Okay.” She agreed and my smile brightened. “Coke here, you dumbass,” Jazmine walked to me, while she spread her arms wide and pulled me into a hug. “I missed you too Lee. I missed you too.” My hands wrapped around her tightly. “I can’t believe you really poured a smoothie on Sean’s face.” Jazmine pulled away staring at me hilariously, while we both chuckled hard at her words.
Oh, how I missed her.
