I turned around and I didn’t expect to see the gorgeous man walking through the doors. He looked like a bad boy with short dark brown hair which had beautiful natural waves to it, gorgeous medium green eyes that you could stare into forever, and a smile that had a softness to it. Now, I’m not really into the bad boy type, but I will admit that this man was hot as hell.
He walked over to the empty seat next to mine at the counter, “is this seat taken?” he asked me. “Not at all, be my guest.” “I would love to be your guest baby” he smiled and winked at me. But this time his smile didn’t have that softness that I saw when he was talking to customers who were seated by the door, it had more of a seductiveness to it. It didn’t bother me though. Much. I just rolled my eyes and smiled. “Baby? Do you call every girl you just met that?”
“Only ones that I find attractive” there’s that wink again. I can pretend that it doesn’t get to me, but it does. I don’t date for obvious reasons, the last guy I dated abused me as well, and I was with him longer than I would like to admit. I felt helpless.
I finally got out of that relationship three months ago with the help of Roberta and Lisa. But they don’t know that he’s still trying to get me to go back, and every time I reject him he gets angrier and angrier. But I don’t want to worry them so I just deal with it myself.
The familiar ding of the door brings me out of my thoughts and I hear a voice that’s all too familiar to me. “Hey baby” I shoot around and see Damien standing behind me. Luckily Roberta was busy with other customers so she didn’t notice him, “what the hell are you doing here? And don’t call me that, I’m not your baby.” “Isn’t it obvious sweetheart, I came to see you.”
He gave me a look that I think was supposed to be seductive, but it didn’t work on me. Not this time. I glared at him and he just looked at me and smiled, “I thought you’d be happy to see me darlin’.” “Well you thought wrong Damien, leave me alone.”
“Can’t we just talk baby?” “ Not a chance, and stop calling me that! I’m not yours anymore!”
He looked at me and I could see in his eyes he was not happy at all. I knew he was going to cause a scene. I didn’t want that and I especially didn’t want Roberta to get involved.
“Fine. Let’s go outside and talk.” I told Damien through gritted teeth. He still knew how to get under my skin and how to get me to do something.
We go outside to the side of the building, where we think no one will see us, and he stops and he loses the act he was putting on in front of everyone. “What the f**k do you think you’re doing Sasha!? You think you can get away from me that easily!?” “I’m done with you Damien! I’m never going back to you so just leave me the hell alone!”
That did it. Now he’s angry. He grabs my arm tight. “Listen here you little b***h, you think someone’s going to want you? Wrong! No one is ever going to want you or love you. They’ll all just f**k you and leave! Do you understand!? I’m the only one who could ever put up with your bullshit!” “Stop it Damien, you’re hurting me!” “Now come back with me and we can put this whole fiasco behind us. Got it?”
“Is there a problem here?”
I hear a voice from behind me. s**t. I turn around and see the guy who was sitting next to me at the counter. Double s**t. Damien’s going to be even more pissed, because one, someone stopped him, and two, it’s a very attractive man who happened to be sitting next to me and Damien noticed that.
“Mind your own business will ya?” Damien snarled at the man. “The lady said you’re hurting her. Let her go before I kick your ass.”
Damien growled and finally let go of my arm, “we’ll continue this conversation next time baby.” He looked at me with so much anger in his eyes, I know next time won’t be so nice.
“Thank you.” I tell the man who just scared off Damien. “No problem. I’m Jake. You are?” “I’m Sasha. Why’d you help me? You don’t even know me or what was going on.”
“I didn’t need to. I saw him grab your arm from the window and when I came out I heard you tell him he was hurting you. I’m not ok with that. It pisses me off.” Jake told me, and I could see the sincerity in his eyes. “Well, thank you again. I need to go now. I’m going to be late. It was nice meeting you!”
“You too.”
Jake’s POV
I was sitting at the counter after the pretty blonde went outside with that asshole. I looked out the window a little while later and I saw him grab her arm pretty rough. And that was it. I started walking to the door and when I got outside I heard her say he was hurting her.
I couldn’t watch anymore. “Is there a problem here?”
“Mind your own business will ya?” the asshole holding her arm had the courage to say to me. “The lady said you’re hurting her. Let her go before I kick your ass.”
He let out a low growl and let her arm go and I heard him tell her “we’ll continue this conversation next time baby.” And he took off.
“Thank you.” Her voice is soft and sweet. “No problem. I’m Jake. You are?” “I’m Sasha. Why’d you help me? You don’t even know me or what was going on.” Wow. Her eyes are deep like the ocean. I didn’t get a good look at her earlier before that asshole came in.
“You too.”
I look at her arm as she’s walking away and there’s already a bruise forming where that douche had grabbed her. “What an asshole” I think to myself. f**k that guy, he better hope I don’t see him again. I stand there and watch her walk away for a moment before I go back inside.
“She has a nice f*****g body. Damn.”
Sasha’s POV
Jake. I can’t stop thinking about how he scared Damien off. But, where have I heard that name?
