As I’m walking down the hall towards the principal's office I can’t help but think how this is going to turn out to be my fault. I’m sure Chelsea is a phenomenal liar, hence why she hasn’t been in trouble before. I know for a fact I’m not the only one that she treats this way, but I’m pretty sure I’m the only one who would stand up to her.
My next thought is my so-called parents. When they get the phone call, that I’m sure they’re going to get, I already know how they are going to react. It’s going to be another beating, maybe sent to bed without dinner, the usual. It’s no big deal. I can handle it now anyways.
We finally make it to the principal's office and of course he takes Chelsea back first and tells me to take a seat in a chair outside of his office. After ten or fifteen minutes pass Chelsea comes out of his office, as she’s passing by she looks at me, her eyes were slightly red like she had been crying, and she game me a stupid grin. I wanted to get up and slap the grin off of her face right then and there. But then he called me into his office.
“Have a seat miss” he tells me as he starts taking a seat himself. I sit down and look at him, holding my hands in my lap. “So what exactly happened” he said as he leaned forward with his elbows on his desk, looking like he was actually interested in hearing my side of the story. Unlikely.
“No offense, but I doubt you’re actually going to believe what actually happened, especially after you talked to her.” I looked him in the eyes as I said this.
“Why do you say that Sasha?” He asked me with a serious look in his eyes.
“No one else does. You actually know my name?” Surprisingly this is the only time I’ve been in his office. The other teachers usually deal with little things themselves.
“No one as in who?”
“As in everyone. Students, teachers, other faculty… my parents.” I mumbled the last part hoping he wouldn’t hear me.
“Your parents?” He asked. ‘s**t…’ He looked at me with curiosity and maybe a hint of… worry in his eyes? Why would anyone worry about me?
“It doesn’t matter, like I said you won’t believe me anyways.”
“Try me” was all he said, I looked him in the eyes confused. ‘Should I tell him? I mean the worst that could happen is he won’t believe me. No. Scratch that, the worst that could happen is he’ll call my parents and then I’ll have to deal with them when I get home.’ I thought about it for a minute. ‘f**k it. I’ll probably have to deal with them when I get home anyways.’ “She started it. She’s the one who came up to me and pushed me and called me disrespectful s**t!” I got a little too carried away and I quickly calmed down when that slipped out. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to be disrespectful to you, I got a little too carried away.”
“That’s alright Sasha. Can I ask you what she called you?” I looked at him before smiling and asking “Do you want exact words in there or do you want me to bleep some out for you?”
“Exact words please”
“Alright. She shoulder checked me and said, and I quote, ‘watch where you’re going b***h’ I don’t handle being disrespected well so it just escalated from there.” “I see. You’re free to go.”
“Wait, that’s it?” He looked at me with confusion. “Yes? Unless you think I should call your parents?”
“No! I mean, no that’s alright you don’t have to do that. Thank you.” “Goodbye miss Sasha. I hope I don’t have you back in my office today.” He looked at me with a playful grin “You won’t sir. Thank you.” And with that I left his office and went to class.
I was hoping the rest of the day would go by without any more events happening to me, and I almost made it, but at the end of the day when I was walking through the halls I saw Chelsea and that new guy, Jake I think, talking to each other and I couldn’t help but notice how hard Chelsea was trying to grab his attention by how she was leaning against the locker, putting on a fake smile, and by the way she kept putting her hand on his arm while he didn’t look interested at all and like he wanted any excuse to get out of the conversation they were having. It would’ve been funny if it wasn’t so pathetic. Okay, maybe it was still a little funny. Until he noticed me walking by.
If he was a dog I’m sure his ears would’ve perked up when he saw me, it was kind of funny actually. Until he left Chelsea in the middle of her sentence to come strolling over to me. ‘Great, so much for the rest of the school day being uneventful.’ Based on the way Charlene was glaring at me, I’m sure the rest of the week wouldn’t be uneventful either.
“Hey what’s up? Um.. Sasha right?” He looked at me smiling. He has a great smile, and perfectly straight white teeth. “The one and only. Jake right?” I asked him as we kept walking, Chelsea watching us, still glaring at me.
“I’m flattered you remember me” he said as he put a hand on his chest, over his heart. “Oh so you’re a dramatic one huh?” giggling a little as I say it, but not that one type of giggle that makes you sound like a little school girl, no I have a more.. Mature.. Giggle? Yeah that’s it.
“Oh that hurt!” trying to pout but it didn’t last long before it turned into a smile. “You know I think Chelsea’s getting a little jealous. Are you two dating?” “Me and Chelsea? Hell no” he said laughing. “Does she know that?” I don’t know why but I couldn’t help laughing as well. “So I heard you put Chelsea in her place earlier. Is that true?”
“I mean we got into it a little bit, but I don’t think it put her in her place. Still seems like she’s acting like a stuck up b***h to me.” I said looking him in the eyes, wow he has beautiful eyes. ‘Woah, get your head together Sasha, what’s gotten into you?’
“Well either way I thought it was awesome.”
“Oh yeah? And why’s that?” I stopped walking and turned to look at him, we were at the edge of the building now where the student parking lot starts. “Today was my first day and I can already tell she needs someone to put her in her place. Not to mention I’ve heard some stories and heard about her reputation.” He paused for a second before turning to me. “So which one’s yours?” He asked me as he nodded his head to the cars in the parking lot.
“Oh I actually don’t have a car so I walk to and from school”
“Oh, well can I give you a ride?” I thought of what my parents would do if they saw that I got a ride home from some guy. ‘Oh s**t! I gotta go or I’m going to be late!’ “Um thank you but I’d rather walk, it’s a nice day and all.” “Do you want me to walk you?”
‘Who is this guy? Why is he being so nice to me?’ “No that’s ok I wouldn’t want to bother you, but I really have to get going. It was nice talking to you.” I started to turn to start walking when he said “It wouldn’t both me, but alright. Talk later?” “Yeah, sounds good” I gave him a quick smile and started walking home. When I was out of site I ran. ‘s**t, s**t, s**t!’
